So, as we all know -or at least I've mentioned a lot- my female Sch I is spayed right?
Over the past two days I noticed some strange behavior from her. We have a deck out into the dog yard that stands about 20 feet off the ground. The dogs hang out on the deck, a lot because it's their main entrance into and out of the house. Well, past couple of days I look out back and I notice my female laying at this one section of the deck. When the male goes over there, she gets up and gives him a quick ear chewing, sending him on his way too sweet and then she goes back.
Since she had her toys hoarded over there, didn't think anything of it.
Tonight I'm eating dinner at the kitchen table and looking out the door at the deck and I notice my bitch is standing over her 'spot' head cocked and muzzle pushed against the decking. As I watch she lifts her head and very delicaty scratches at the deck, then goes back to wuffling at it.
Now remember, this is the same dog who carries whole eggs around in her mouth without cracking the shell.
Dig, dig, wuffle, wuffle, dig, dig, wuffle, wuffle.
Head cocked, she listens for a bit and then circles a couple of times and lays back down.
So I decide to check this out. Figuring there's something there catching her attention, a bug or ... something. I go out and shoo her off her spot and get down to peek through the slats in the deck. I see peeking back at me two (probably three hard to tell the way it's set up there) little yellow beaks, wide open expecting a snack.
She has found herself a little nest of baby birds to watch. Mostly, she just lays there over the nest but she must get up when 'Momma' bird comes around to feed the little ones and they cry/make noise. Any time the male comes near, she sends him off with a firm warning (for the record, these two dogs have never been 'food' aggressive with each other neither are they food possessive), then back to laying near them, listening to them.
Gottah love a GSD!

So sweet!!!
What a lovely girl.
And people wonder why we love our GSDs?
Can't help it, that's why!
