Hi Everybody,

I've taken a few new pics of Annie Oakley to post here...

In a couple of weeks it'll be a lot harder for me to post pics, as I'll be back to dial up, but I'll do what I can...

Crys

I'm editing this thread, and all others...If anyone wants to know why, PM me.

Checking out the yard...with nose and ears...Sure looks like she can see...

Closeup headshot I took earlier today while she was out on the porch.  Such a kind, sweet, affectionate dog...Always right there with me.  Have to sneak away just to get a good shot of her like this.

I am so blessed to share my life with this little GSD pup.  I've had her exactly a week and a day now, and I can't imagine her not being here with us.  She is every bit as special as I thought she'd be, and we're doing very well together.

To watch her, one would think she can see.  And then she will run into the back of me if I stop, and I realize that she can't see at all.  Just the same, she is every bit as capable as a sighted dog.  Even when pouncing on a toy that she left laying in the grass or on the floor...She'll drop it, walk a few steps, turn around like she's looking at the toy, and pounce, never missing the goal.  She's doing really good.  Doors get her, though.  She'll sometimes walk into a door, because she expects it to be open, and if it's not, then she bumps it gently.  She's really quite good at getting around.

Doors get her because I try to keep bedroom doors closed, because she tends to be a bit looser about the housetraining if she gets into a bedroom...Don't quite understand that, but that's what happens.  Plus, she adores stuffed animals, and my kids have a lot of those, so I have to keep her out of their rooms so she doesn't tear up their toys.  I keep the living room, kitchen, dining room, etc free of toys so that she's not tempted, and when she does get something she's not supposed to, I tell her to get her baby,or her bone.  She's figuring out what I mean, because I lead her to it and give it to her.  I need to get her some Kongs, fill them up with goodies, and she won't care about the stuffed toys anymore.  Next week, likely.

Her baby, by the way, is a little stuffed toy that Steph brought from home to leave with Oakley...She loves it very much.  Don't know how much longer 'Baby" will last, but I'll have to get her another once it gets too far gone!

Thanks Raymond for the kind words.  Though I haven't yet figured out what's so special about me for giving this particular girl a home.  She's as good a dog as any other, and I just love her.  I will love her always.

Happy 4th to you too! We're leaving in a few minutes to go watch fireworks, but I want to say, I just love your Annie too! Thanks for giving us all a glimpse into her life with you. You are special, and don't forget it!  You both are an inspiration of what one can do, instead of what one cannot do. Not everyone would have taken the chance.

I will tell you what is special about you You took upon yourself with no selfishness to look after a gsd that was at a disadvantage and would have otherwise wound up mistreated and abused and then dead! Others will slam me but God brought this dog into your life for a specific purpose and I say bravo to you ! There are others who are special here too but you did not  hear me say that. I gonna cry again! I salute you and your family

There's a reason you two ended up together,  count your blessings.

She is a beautiful girl

all smiles here
