My husband and I came across a pair of 3 month old GSD puppies that were not finding a home. They immediately won our hearts over and took them.
The brother and sister GSD where said to have come from the Czech Republic and papers were soon to follow after their purchase.
Well the papers never arrived and the contact number of the seller is disconnected.
All we have, our these amazing and absolutely beautiful dogs.
We were also given two internet print outs from this site of their mother and father. The parents are from the Dlha Roven Kennel (Im assuming): father - Sapeur vom Gollerweiher and dam - Brixi Dlha Roven.
Other than the dogs having the same resemblence to the parents - both puppies have tattoos in their ears.
I cant find a contact for this Kennel nor can I find a listing of the puppies's tattoo numbers. The male's number is 57009.

We really want to breed the male who is about 1 and 1/4 yrs. He is an extra-large breed with a sable tri-coat. Has a tremendous temperment and greatest heart with no prospect of having hip dysplasia.

Although we know have wonderful both dogs are we feel that if they had papers it would provide more value for his progeny.
If anyone was any imformation that can help me I would greatly appreciate the effort.

Great appreciated, Liddyb

If you know which country these pups might have been born, check with them regarding the tattoo #. Or contact the kennel that bred the female as often she is in the country where the pups might have come from. They will at least be able to tell you where the female might now be located and possible contact info. If the female's breeder can help you, getting him the tattoo # would be a big help. Just for the heck of it, contact the SV with the tattoo #s. They might give you some advice, too.

One thing I would be careful of - if the person you got the pups from purposely avoiding you, either the info you got was incorrect or there may be some other issue with the pups. Perhaps they may even be stolen. You just don't know these days.

The male is a lttle young to breed. You should wait until he's at least 2 years old and have his hips and elbows x-rayed and evaluated by the OFA. ONLY THEN should you even think about breeding him. You should think about joining a club and doing some OB or getting him titled. If you cannot get his papers, and if you do not get him OFA'd the puppies will only be worth what the market bears for unregistered pet pups - lucky to sell them at all as veery nice pedigreed import pups are not selling well either.

A lot of people BUY GSDs.

Many do not KEEP them as they really are not prepared to own them and raise them properly. They are smart but they don't train and socialize themselves.

I know your intentions are good but to breed more dogs just because you think yours is nice is just putting a lot of unwanted dogs into the shelter system. If you need money, get a part-time job. If you can't keep all these dogs, place some or all of them.

After hours of calls and backtracking, we did find the orginial importer of the puppies I was asking about, and yes the are from where we thought which was all i wanted answered. The importer was giving a great reference by the man that supposedly turned around and sold them instead of finding proper homes.
My husband and I were not in the mindset of GSD dogs, we had always thought that there were too many great dogs out there to buy high priced working dogs. When we saw them, we instantly fell in love with them. They were living in the back of a puppy store, nearly 3 mos old and under nuritied, skinnier than a rail with dull matted coats!!! The boy, Linus, we own and the sister, Lucy, now lives only twenty minutes away a great home.
We have fallen so in love with the breed, especially these two dogs, that I feel it is only fate that bought us together. I am not trying to sound like this overly sentimental dog owner. But to be honest, I was always a dog lover, but it takes one amazing dog to make a "certain" breed lover forever.
The accusation that I want to breed my dog "right away" is wrong. I am merely stating his age, and that his remarkable qualities should be carried forth in future generations. Both dogs have been raised fully socailized with other dogs, cats, children, humans, and the general public. I have no fear or question of my dog's ability or emotional state in any situation, WE have or will encounter.
Everyday is a great journey of bonding and training so that both of us can be the best we can be. So wise guy... if i am curious about finding the true origins of the animal i love and perhaps want to enjoy the offspring of this animal... i do not need my intentions or ability of raising a GSD questioned!
