The AKC will tell you what papers you need to do this.
The breeder should have sent you everything thats needed.

If you have the dog imported directly from Germany you will also need his transfer of ownership papers. Then it's just a matter of taking a copy of those, copy the pink sheet, send in the 2 photos - front shot, side shot and you can find the form on the AKC website. AKC will take a copy of the pink sheet instead of sending the original which you should probably store in a safe deposit box.

Hi, I had to DNA my male, as well as prove ownership.  (Bescheinigung)  AKC sells the DNA kit.   Maybe if you go to www.schaeferhunde.de  that may work to start the ownership.

I didn't have to provide photos, just the DNA, but maybe things have changed.  Also AKC may help with the Bescheinigung
,  Try this:
akc@schaeferhunde.de    AKC can help you with everything else needed.   I wished they had an 800 number at the time.    Good luckTrish

I don't think there any photo requirements like for an ILP. The DNA test has to be done before you can breed an imported dog. We all know how AKC papers ensure the dogs parents are who they say they are.   It's those under-handed import dogs that try to put something over!

You will need to get a Bescheinigung from the SV before AKC will register your dog. Either the prior owner will get it for you or you get it yourself. Once you get that, send in a copy of the Bescheinigung, a complete copy of the Pink Papers, two photographs of your dog (one a head shot and one from the side) and a Foreign Dog Registry Form that you can print from the AKC website. Also send them $50.  Without all the above, your import will not be registered by the AKC.
