Can anyone recommend the least expensive place to get a set of blinds, or a cost effective way to make them? I live near Chicago, I'd rather not ship them as the price will go through the roof. We have enough events around here with equipment vendors, I'm sure I can get by without having them shipped, or find a supplier within driving distance.

If they don,t have to be transportable go to Home depo or any store of such and buy 8 foot fence panels and cut them in have and   dingo bango you have a blind.

Kczaja,
If you are a little handy you can make blinds pretty easily and inexpensively.  At Home Depot or Lowes you can buy 3/4" galvanized pipe in 10' lengths for a few bucks.  3 lengths of pipe are needed to make 1 blind, and you cut them down to 8'.  You bolt the top of the 3 pipes together giving you the frame for blind.  I picked up blue tarp material on sale for $2 each.  I cut the tarp and glued it to the pipe frame.    And the blind was made.  You could use canvas, which would be better but more expensive.

I was able to attach a stake to the bottom to secure them.  Each blind cost about $12 and worked pretty well.  Eventually, we went to Hallmark K9 and bought real blinds, they are better but around $130 a piece.

Just an idea, FWIW

I would think you could make a blind out of damned near anything,  Steel pipes a bit heavy.
What you want is something professional looking for the cover.   A little material, some cutting and sewing, it can't be that hard to make something look great.   Logos can be done with silk screening to add that special club name or sponsor.
Try some PVC and a rubber strap.

3/4" galvanized pipes are really not that heavy, the whole blind weighs maybe 15 or 20 lbs. They are really the same weight as regular blinds. PVC is lighter but I doubt it would be strong enough, maybe  if you used 11/2 it might be ok.".

That's kind of exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for ideas on the galvanized pipe. Being of the fairer sex, I admit my knowledge of hardware store material is limited.

That's what I meant, the electrical pipe.  It's cheap, light and strong. Leave it to Jeff again, to clarify my posts.
