I love my cart.  I didn't  check out your site.........If you are talking about carts that help the dog walk........that is not what I am talking about.   This is an awesome sport for all sizes of dogs......

This is the guy from the site above that built my cart,  and  Darlette on the next reference is who did the sewing for my vests that hook up to the cart.
She also wrote the book, REALLY , on dog driving.

Talk about a sport in the evenings or early mornings..........and the dogs just love it,  it is here in carting.  Dogs can pull 3 or 4 X their own weight (If I remember correctly)

Boone,
When you get it all figured out I would like to read your thread.  Cart pulling is interesting and I would be curious what you and others know about this.  Rotts were used for this as were other breeds.  Done correctly it seems it could be of great value to both.  The key is correctly done, not too much or for too long.  Hope you can get your message up, I don't remember this topic coming up before.

I think putting up a new thread should be self explanitory, but if you are having trouble still, send a personal message to someone besides me.  I am computer illiterate.  Hopefully someone will respond to your plea for help.

My husband and I taught 2 of our shepherds to pull carts ( actually radio flyer wagons) years ago.  It was a lots of fun.  You have to start by finding the right type of harness that is comfortable for the dog.  Then they have to learn to pull something with some weight  - we used old tires.  Then you have to get them used to the shafts - that was the hardest part because they have to learn to make the turns in big sweeping circles so they don't get tangled in the shafts.

Once they learned all this we had great fun with it.  We did quite a lot of therapy work using the carts.  We'd visit  senior centers for Halloween with the wagons all decorated with fall leaves and pumpkins  and  a friend's
2 little neices dressd in costumes.  I don't know which the old folks liked better the kids or the dogs pulling the wagon - but it was a huge hit!
Another time we visited  a  church in Chatham NJ that took in homeless families - we were able to take the young kids for rides in the wagon.  It was fun for all involved.

I haven't done it with any of our current dogs - like everything else there is never enough time.

They use to have a rottie club in San Diego, I have driven there to watch years ago. Looked to be a blast. Was waiting for one of my dogs to get old nough, passed away. I never went back to it. Something I would lve to try  The build on the dogs was awesome, they were in such good shape. The one thing I did wish for was a brake on the cart!
