Hi .

After the great GSDL Tony Howson show i rather got the impression we were going forward with regard to being more positive in our efforts to make the remaining shows of the year as enjoyable as possible, so,   can we all get our entries in for WEST YORKS,  we do need to support this show, as well as the two following, talking is one thing, actions speak far louder,  Let us build on the feel good factor

    Regards Paul Rattigan.

problem is Paul there has been another show held since Tony's memorial show, and there is another one this week-end. Will they keep up the GSD exhibitors morale??

We need to be vigilant on our breed shows be they open or Ch if we are to survive.  We all need to give support to our surviving clubs with CC`s on offer and to the other ones at open show level It is really as simple as that, because not only is the cost of living curbing our pleasure, some exhibitors in other breeds are doing their damnest to get us outed too.
Border Union Ch Show last week-end provided the worst spectacle from a judge I have ever seen.   It went like this....

Good animals were being exhibited net to the Doberman ring.   Outside attraction was - without doubt - at the very minimum.  Border Union has always been excellent at policing this habit.

Suddenly, out of the Dobe ring comes a steward AND WAGS HER FINGER SO CLOSE TO A SPECTATOR OF OUR BREED ......  YES A SPECTATOR .... and not even an exhibitor, not even related I am told -  to any exhibit or exhibitor, that she frightened the poor woman half to death.  The Woman put her hand up to her face in fear that she was going to be struck, as she didnt even know what was the problem with the lady who had leapt out of the Dobe ring.

This quelled....

Then the JUDGE  - yes  - THE JUDGE - from the Doberman ring ENTERED THe GSD RING and was rude, and obnoxious, to our stewards and the judge.  I thought I was seeing things, and she was SOO LOUD.  She told our stewards she would complain, and in a non confrontational manner, our lady steward said that this was in order if this is what she wished to do.

At this... the DOBERMAN JUDGE strode out of our GSD ring - entered her own ring  -  and wait for it..... WENT IN TO THE MIDDLE OF HER OWN RING AND THREW HER HANDS UP IN JUBILATION OVER HER HEAD SHOUTING LOUDLY    YES   YES  -  at which most of the Dobe exhibitors roared and clapped like a football crowd after a goal

Had I been the GSD judge, I would by now have made an official complaint and followed the greivance procedure through with the Kennel Club, regarding judges conduct and their ability to react like football hooligans.  I am told by a responsible source, that 13 GSD people put their name to the security man that was sent to our ring, as to the fact that the officials in the Dobe ring behaved appallingly.

I can hand on heart say, that the GSD exhibitors were behaving well.  a couple of times, the stewards brought the attraction rule to the attention of a couple of people, and apologies were given immediately, and it was not carried on......

I ask myself the question - was I having an enjoyable day out - or was I at a rather unkempt footie match  It is just so sad.

i agree with you 100% mo what happened that day was totally out of order and with no justification what so ever and i hope that the dobe judge is taken to task over her behaviour also the dobe exhibitors thowing their bits of liver into the gsd ring so the dogs were stopping at the top left corner so so childish they had said that as we were noisey we were scaring their dogs then they make more noise than you would hear at a footie match ??? mmm some people make no sense at all.

I didnt realise that Jim, but it makes sense why all the dogs were all stopping up there on that corner.  I thought perhaps that there had been dogs in the previous day and treats had been left, but if that was also what was happening it figures with the behaviour of the judge - totally disruptive, and out to cause trouble.  Very sad and small minded if that was what was happening.   Mo - Mascani

Is this something the GSD Partnership may formally raise with the Kennel Club, some time soon. It seems easy enough to deal with and they might obtain a clear unequivocal decision from the Kennel Club. Got to go now, some pigs flying around outside disrupting my dogs.
