 For all you well educated liberal preverts ;and I did say prevert LOL . What would you have had the unions been stifled? Let me tell you what you would not have!  no child labor laws;  40 hr work week', retirement fund, health care; private mortgage( you would be living in a company owned home) OSHA:  safer worksite; safer vehicles; 8 hr work day; a living wage, Just about everything you arse holes enjoy is a result of collective bargaining. corruption in unions ?yes where ever big money is you will find corruption!  Had it not been for unions you asshole would be working for 5 dollars a day seven days a week with no benefits or future! So instead of spittin on the unions get behind them and support them before everyone including ugly dog is working for food to eat. Go to your non union boss and say my child is sick and needs medicine! Ha he will throw you out. How do I know ? Been there done that

Yeah unions had there place in history thats for sure.
Then they became corrupt, then they were broken.

I guess all those who lost all their benifits at the airlines were corrupt! Why did they loose benifits and the airlines recieve all that money from you and me after 9-11?  I guess every taxpayer in this country is corrupt cause we are bankrupt but those at the top of the auto companies get trillions and the freaking workers get fckd and most auto plants shut down and production increases in new plant overseas. And banks get trillions but those big bonuses still get paid out. Oh yes those wicked corrupt union members! Well lets destroy the govt union that gives full benifits after one year of service and all those double and triple dipper govt employees! Oh a single term pres gets full pension for life wow . one term senator gets full pension for life wow! A service man retires after 20 yrs and we here no squak about that! A postal employee retires after 20 yrs and that is ok. But just let an auto worker retire after 20 yrs who recieved shit from the govt and everybody wants their head! Why not go find out what the obama fired ceo of gm is recieving in pay right now two moons! I challenge you because you seem like an informed person!  What about the ceo of chrysler who said he would take no pay ! How in hell can you work a job without pay for a year . Tm you are a victum of news media propoganda!hell no you can not retire after 20 years recieving 15oo.oo dollrs a month but that exec can retire after 10 years with multiple millions a year in retirement. So you tell me where the crooks are tm?

I agree with what the Unions have done but sometimes wonder how far.

But sometimes is it too far. I know our company is really struggling and the union employess keep asking for more and more and we are willing to do with less to keep everyone with their jobs.  We already have competitive salaries and benefits. Actually also have a pension plan [but this will not be the case with new hires]

How do the Europeans do it?
I hear their taxes are higher but they get much more liberal benefits and healthcare

LOL  I know unions started out like Moons said someone to defend the worker now those days are way gone. Gettlefinger a good example of corrupt union goons sitting collecting unions dues without doing anything for the workers but costing them their jobs. The trade unions have skilled workers plummers, carpenters that have training and skills and deserve the wage but the high school drop out making 90 bucks an hour for two screws in a car door panel gives the other side of what the unions does they out price the benefits/wages till the company folds and then they take over which is what has happened to the auto industry currently.  The supply and demand is what will always level the playing field and regulate wages. if you have six openings and 2,000 applying of course wages will be to the benefit of the employer as will 2,000 openings and twenty applying the benefits will go up to seek that worker it all levels out.  Looks like you worked and had benefits or you would not be able to retire at 55 years old and call everyone who disagrees with you a asshole instead you would be looking for work glad it worked out for you. The state of Calfornia is union everything from the city to the food workers, sales people,  motel cleaners, teachers you name it all unions and as you can see asking for bailouts from the states that every job is not union and normal wages prevail. People are leaving and the state payroll can not maintain itself because of the retirement benefits and high wages which results in high unemployment. I am sure the auto workers in Michigan would have worked for less to hold their jobs now they are out of the streets and homeless because Gettlefinger would not work with GM or CHY so you see the end result. The unions did not make the US the american worker did and some have never been with a union in their life but saved their money and worked for a decent wage.  If you look at the car factories down south they are making 25 to 30 an hour with normal benefits and doing well but up north this was not good enough so you see the end result no work at all. Instead of fussing on unions you might want to use some of your colorful language for the folks in washington and congress the people who ruined the economy. I cant say all unions are horrible but the greed of them in modern times has cost more jobs than they saved and the worker paid the price not the unions. If you think salaries are high you should see what the unions bosses make that would curl your hair and now they own the most stock in a company in part they helped to bring down and they along with Obama thinks it is fine for the retiree to get nothing and the unions to profit if that is protecting the worker I am sure they would have done better without them.

Anything with that much money and power becomes corrupt.

Carpenters are almost the first to loose their jobs in a recession so again you are full of it/ I could not get a job even if I paid for it. Wanna know how many forclosures in my area? Over 500 Wanna know our unemployment rate? try 25%  Oh and our new gov after hot rod blogolovich wants to raise all taxes by almost 50 % Yes I made good money but I know how much it took to build the house and what it sold for sure made some one other than me rich.And in california it is even immoral the price spread between sales and realestate fees. Convince me that 30 thousand is reasonable for an agent to recieve when a home sale is closed.Even here convince me 6 thousand is reasonable for a sale to close No. Take your bs somewhere else other than the auto worker or auto union. those who ran gm not the union  ran it in the ground! Remember the oil embargo and the shift to fuel effecient cars? What happened there ? Chrysler was in trouble once before and they returned sucessfull .Was that the unions fault. My conclusion is you people do not know what your babling about!

Thank you Two Moons  All unions are not bad look at the Police and Fire fighters but the Auto industry corrupt to the bone and powerful. I am for anything that protects the workers and their rights so that they cant be fired for no reason and have some recourse if treated unfairly thats common sense but when they become the problem that costs the workers his rights and job a horse of a different color then. Our government dear leader Obama has put billions and I mean billions of tax payors dollars in GM and Chy how do you think a worker that makes 9.00 an hours feels that his tax money is going to keep someone who is making 90.00 an hour to put two screws in a door panel- quite naturally they would have a problem with that and that is what it is- now that the unions are the the biggest share holder of the auto industry watch the salaries and benefits go down the unions are for themselves they had enough money alone to bail the auto industry out themselves without government money as you see it did not happen. There is always too much and that union is the poster child of what is wrong with the big unions who care less about any worker just themselves.

Come on now lay your tongue out on the table !  Tell us all who runs gm,ford,chrysler, and those foriegn car makers! I suppose the auto workers said make big suv,s when gas prices were so high? I suppose the union sold the battery technology to texaco and allowed texaco to kill developement. Yes the auto union lobbied congress to get that nafta treaty passed so your union auto job could be sent overseas or mexico or to canada. Yes it is clear your ass has overloaded your mouth!  yes gm did use bailout money to update their factory in detroit? NO THEY USED THAT MONEY TO FINISH THE STATE OF THE ART PLANT IN SOUTH AMERICA. HEY THEY DO NOT NEED TO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE AND DECENT WAGES THEIRE. MORE MONEY FOR THE BOTTOM LINE AND TO SPREAD AROUND TO THE LOCAL CORRUPT OFFICIALS! Again you overload your ass the taxpayer is the biggest share holder in gm and who controlls that money? Obama! Again stick to dogs cause you are embarrasing yourself
