I just removed the biggest tick I have ever seen from my dog.
The problem is, the dog was treated with Advantix only 6 days ago.
Do you think it was a bad batch, or that the tick was there before the treatment? Or???? I can't understand how such a huge tick could have survived the chemical warfare.....

where do you live?
hardly anything kills ticks in the rural part of Texas. they've become immune to most pesticides that worked years ago.

It takes time for the Advantix to circulate through the dogs system.
Also a tick whose already fully engorged with blood may be hanging on but not really feeding.

I had the same problem last year. Used Frontline for years and it didn't work (dogs had ticks) so I had to switch to Advantix which seems to be working.

Then I shouldn't tell you how my son squished the bugger under a cup on the patio table and its guts hit me on the cheek two chairs away! LOL
after I scrubbed my hads and cheek with soap and water, I put rubbing alcohol on them - it was gross! LOL!

I use Advantix to repel flies and I've noticed that this latest batch doesn't seem to be doing the trick, so I wonder if there's not some kind of change in the formulation or something. Usually I can see results within a day or so against the flies . . . not so this time :(

that advatix seems to be a waste of money!
I've tried the yard spray that you hook to the hose.....that seems to do the trick for bugs around here....

I can't bring myself to put a monthlong pesticide on my dog, as I would never use such a product on myself or my family. I use an all natural topical spray and it works very well.
