"Bones" is one of my son's favorite TV shows. Last night they had a death by dog bite mystery. We all got a kick out of watching the scene with Cesar, "whispering"  his pack leader, calm assertiveness  to a warehouse full of chained fighting dogs. Hated the ending though....!  Anyone else a fan?

I like "Bones" too, and I guess Cesar was just playing himself! The ending was truer to life I would think........... a dog killing a human being, even under orders, would be considered too risky to place (though he'd probably become a model citizen with Cesar LOL, and live out his life with The Pack...)

I enjoyed watching the show every week. Last night shined some light on dog fighting. I never knew they sharpen the teeth of the dogs? that is crazy IMO. what will they think of next?

My children were watching with me and were saying  there is no way Cesar did that clear out of the blue :) I have to admit I just don't see fighting pitts calming down like that ! But there was a key statement he said when the lady was trying to calm the dogs down in the crates he said " it is not as easy as it looks"  referring back to what he does. I would have to agree.

It was very sad to see the end specially after she had him in the office  on her lap and was going to adopt him but I am gald they did it that way instead of letting the "wrong" kinda of people think that they adopt out agressive people kill dogs.

Again the dogs are the ones who pay dearly for "stupid" peoples choices

Cesar Milan is to real dog training what CSI is to real forensic science. Talk about unrealistic expectations.

As for dog fighting, most do not sharpen their dogs fangs because the dog can damage itself by "fanging it's own lip". There are two types of dog fighting believe it or not. The "Street Fighter" (i.e. gang bangers or unorganized fights) and "Professional Fighter" or those that follow the "Cajun Rules" of professional dog fighting. Amazing what one learns while working as a paramedic in areas where dog fighting is big. Most "professional fight" dogs are not human aggressive because they could not be handled in the fight pit. It breaks your heart to see these dogs so eager to please their owners as they are bleeding and torn up after a fight (I was present at a few raids). Any human aggressive pup or dog is usually put down, the dog can't be reliably handled in a pit and the owners/handlers are right in the pit with the fighting dogs during the entire fight along with the referee. It is a sick obsession (I refuse to call it a sport).

Is Cesar Millan even qualified to be an expert witness on dog behavior?

I like the show but liked the books better.

Oh, I love Bones! Yeah, I thought the parts with Cesar were really funny. It was better that they had the dog put down in the end though, it would have been a little too unrealistic if they let her keep a dog that killed a person.

I see MINDHUNT knows a little about the subject. No sharpened teeth isn't the norm. Unfortunately with shows like this it may happen. I remember years back that a news man i detroit said that dog fighters would cut off the front paws of there dogs so they'd have a lower center of gravity and so they could get under their opponent. Not 1 case of that ever happening PRIOR to that "report". Unfortunately it did happen after the story. Shows that missinformation on a subject can be worse than the truth.

As for the "CAJUN RULES" many on here would be supprised to find out that they orginally compiled and published the the UKC in their BLOODLINES magazine. Not something they like brought up, but facts are facts.

Dutch Boy, Unfortunately I have had first hand experience with the horrors of dog fights when I was a medic in Detroit among other areas where dog fighting was a big thing (I was on the medic team to take care of law enforcement and animal control in case things went pear shaped, though we did do bad guy transport. I usually went because I was good with dogs and could slip in anywhere and blend in). I picked up more knowledge then I wanted. What amazed me most was how human friendly these dogs were, so eager to keep owner happy, tails wagging the whole fight (what's left of the tail), when they were broken apart for checks or watering, they would look back at their handlers so adoringly in broke my heart and gave me really evil thoughts about what to do to the owners/handlers who happened to end up in my rig. What happens in the back of the ambulance stays in the back LOL evil chuckle.
