My Athena hates Iams Puppy food but I got a sample of taste of the wild and she loves it. I know it is not for puppies but is it bad to feed her that now? I have tried putting everything I can think of to make it taste better but she will eat about 2 cups a day. Why don't they make cat food or pigs ear flavored puppy food? I have also tried nutro but then read it was bad so I didn't give her anymore. She hated it also. She is 14 weeks old. One other question about flea control. The vet gave me vectra and after 3 weeks she had a crazy amount of fleas still. I am going to try one more month. We have 100 acres of land so we have ticks and mosquitos that is why we got the vectra.

I'd be worried about the calorie value of Taste of the Wild for a puppy. It's low in calories per volume. Can you get any other food like Origen or Acana? Iams, Nutro and Science Diet are not very good foods. Some dogs do well on Royal Canin or Blue Buffalo.
I do feed TOTW, but not to a young puppy. Still, it's a good food and if she likes it you might stay with it for a while and see how she does.
Flea control I can't help with, but others on this board know a lot about it. Knock on wood, but I've never had a flea problem where I live.

I have been feeding TOTW to my foster pups and they have been doing very well on it, Biggest thing is their poop is really solid, which we had trouble with on a couple other foods - Orijen and Royal Canin.

TOTW is good, but my dogs recently got sick from it so I'm now feeding Blue Buffalo. Awesome food, and they're doing just as good on it. My Husky pup took 3 and 1/2 to four cups of food to keep his weight up.....and thats a pup who is almost 5 months now, weighing around 25 lbs at the moment.....with Blue Buffalo he eats maybe 2 cups a day at the most and his weight is perfect. Anubis is also keeping weight on better with Blue Buffalo....still somewhat lanky, but he's super active/muscular even at this age, he's 40 lbs now, also at 20 weeks.

I feed TOTW to my Puppies and at 13 weeks and 35# (lean and muscular) I think it is doing a wonderful job!!!!!

I suggest that you do not feed puppy food to german shepherd puppies, they grow too fast .
Keep the calories low, its better, the don't get too fat - fat puppies are more prone to HD (between 4 and 8 weeks especially).

My pups do very well on it. Stool's are good, coats are super dark and shinny. Weight and energy good. I feed the bison and venison, every one loves it.

all of my dogs eat Bison/Venison and are all doing very well. its the only feed I've found that they all do well on. Makes feed time much easier. The only thing I add is SmartFlex Repair for joint health.
all have plenty of energy, good shiny coats, clear eyes, firm poops that don't stink to high heaven None are itching, no dandruff they and they seem very content.......what else can you ask for in a kibble?
With the Aussie, her bad breath is gone, she has more energy then she's had in years. She was going down fast and I thought this would be her last few months, the way she's looking and acting with this new food, she may have another year or two.

report was that a lighter and smaller kibble was found in some sacks of TOTW. I'm betting that it was some Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul the got mixed up.
completely different stuff, and if a dog is used to TOTW, an abrupt change would cause problems. I would have taken it back immediately.
I try to purchase dog food BEFORE I run out and mix the last of the old with the first of the new. Doing this keep any upsets from happening.
In a perfect world this wouldn't be necessary.......we don't live in such world......so the best we can do is to create processes to work around these potential problems.
