Dawn G. Bonome

Are there any toys out there that are ALMOST indestructive out there? My German Shepherd  male has a destroyed every toy that he has played with.  I have basketballs that he has deflated, but  are looking very old and tired. He does not like the toy that looks like a tire. Any soft toys are out of the question. Any suggestions?
He had the big,  black kong and he chewed off the top.

About 10 years ago i bought a hard plastic football for dogs called "Bommer Ball". They were also available smaller. It lasted 8 and a half years!! it took me nearly one and a half years to find a replacement. These are brilliant toys for GSDs.
Warning!! Don't kick. They hurt!!!

Use the Boomer Ball with care!  I let Hot Diggery Dog play with one unsupervised and he smashed his teeth to bits, cost a fortune in dental surgery and he ended up with no canines or incisors, they are stumps almost level with his gums.

My dogs really like the Jolly Ball balls (I have all three sizes).  They taken much abuse and are still a favorite without any serious tears or rips in them.  They also like the Cuz toys.  They play with them til they stop squeaking, then still can play with them because they still make a noise.  My female will start chewing the feet off, but even without feet, the toy can still be played with.  They also really like the fish and octopus from the JW pet lines.  Again, like when they squeak, but when that's broken the toy can still be played with.  Only when the toys have been totally ripped up so the plastic squeaker is exposed are they tossed.  It's amazing how they often prefer the "broken" toys better than the brand new ones!

Orbee is my favorite...............AND .they are FDA approved !    I like the small and medium balls that look like world globes.   They can be chewed and chewed, and if ingested........fine.    I have a 6-pack of fine working line busy GSD's, ranging in age from new born to 9 years, with everything inbetween.

Yes, Orbees are great, my absolute favorite - the only thing my dogs have done to them is pull off some of the "continents" - but it took a while. I like the fact that they are non-toxic. I still use Kongs occasionally, but gave up the Jolly Balls because I think they are very hard on a dogs' teeth.

Orbees and Jolly Balls are the best, both last forever.  Jolly Balls are made for horses, nearly indestructable, but I have recently noticed the ones sold at PetSmart are thinner at the handle.  Don't know if these are made for dogs and so they think they don't have to be as tough?  I also picked up a ball from AKC, believe it or not, very much like a small Jolly.  It's small enough that he grabs the ball so the handle is much less slimy.  He loves it and it has, so far, last for over 4 months.  And I got it on the clearance rack for $6.00!  I haven't seen them since but if I do, I'll by a bunch.
