Kalibeck

If you have some spare time this week end....go see Star Trek! You don't need to be a Trekkie, it's an absolutely GREAT movie....& for those of you who are fans of the original...they have recaptured the old magic perfectly. One of those rare movie going experiences where everyone applauded at the end of the flick. Good show, well worth even the current inflated movie prices. I was afraid that it would dilute my memories of the original with BS, like some of the other Star Trek movies did, not this one...totally reinforced the original! It's a prequel....awesome, can't say enough good things about it. So nice not to be disappointed! jackie harris

I did see it Jackie and I thought it was AWESOME . I remember growing watching Star Trek and the infamous Capt. Kirk and Spock but this time the movie was exciting and fresh. Definately a winner!!!

I saw it on Mother's Day with my husband and kids.  A great way to introduce them to Trekdom!  And it seemed as appropriate as any other movie out there for Mother's Day, with at least two mothers in influential roles.

I watched it and I am surprised that so many enjoyed it since it was off track and did not follow any of the original series characters. Firstly spock was not first officer under cptn pike as portrayed in the latest movie. Roddenberry wife was first officer under pike in the original series. Secondly two spocks on the same screen at the same time is ludicrous .Romulans are not portrayed even as romulans in all the early series. And most amazing is the twenty years of searching for earth from the time of the romulan ship  exiting the rift ;destroying the acting capt kirk snr ship and encountering the klingons and then the enterprise fleet .In that fantastic era of warp drive it takes twenty some years to find a small little planet  called earth! And ohmy the use of transporting while in warp drive is completely off track! They could not even do that in Picards time some two hundred years later. Poorly written script and its draw was only in name . And not to mention the use of so called time travel which the romulan bad guy would surely have used that tool to travel back in time to buy the older spock more time to save romulus with his marvelous black hole blue matter. I am glad I got the disc cheap cause the money at the theater would have been wasted.

Shame on you Jackie. You should be out at the stadium in Slatington watching the AWDF championships.
You ice chest has been in attendance every day since Wednesday... and is headed back out in a few minutes (following a quick re-stock.)
WHAT beer? On school grounds? Who ME? Perish the thought!

I have not had the chance yet, but star trek was the best. One of the other ladies in our training group has all the star trek sounds on her cell phone. Does anybody remember lost in space?
Always,
Cee

Sorry, but an evening with the hubby was well worth the shame!
And as one who watched the original series as a child, & then again as an adult, I can tell you the series 'warped' their story lines from time to time....in watching fiction you need to 'suspend your disbelief', & the spirit of this movie was by far & away the closest to the original series.....you can not tell me an angry twisted Romulan might only seek revenge! Sorry, again, but I loved it! The characters were dead on!
Shelley, I'm glad the ice chest is getting good use, but if you get busted for the beers.....I'm dis-owning it, LOL!
And I'm looking for those ring tones, pronto!
Dang! The first non-dog related thing I've done in months, & I get called on it! Phooey! jackie harris

At one point in the movie last night, I noticed my husband had his hand raised in the 'live long & prosper' gesture at the movie screen, & I was very touched that he was so engrossed; but as I looked around the theatre, there were others doing it as well......so very cool!  Totally engaging! jh

I am happy to say both the cooler and Shelley made it home safe and sound. given the holiday weekend and all the cops laying in wait, I figured it was better to transport and distribute than to participate and drive.
No Designated Driver today = No Booze.
