My understanding is any salmonella that could present is usually expelled before any symptoms are seen, due to the quicker canine digestive metabolism in dogs (vs. humans).

Beetree, this is true.  I feed exclusively raw and do include raw eggs shell and all.  However, it is not wise to mix raw with kibble.  The dry food will slow down the digestion of the raw egg and that is when you could potentially have problems.   If you are going to feed a combination of raw and dry,  just don't do it together.

 Slamdunc,

Thanks for the information regarding the mixing of raw eggs with kibble. I have access to free eggs and feed them to my dogs frequently, sometimes as cooked leftovers from the kids and sometimes raw, but always put it on the kibble.

What do you think of microwave eggs; I heard here that putting other protein sources in the microwave is not healthy for the dog. Maybe that was chicken with bone-in and the change in the bone consumed. ??

 RONNIE - ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

Re. the microwaved chicken, that's bad if there are bones because the microwave cooks the bones which makes them brittle.

Jim, I've heard that about not feeding raw and kibble together.  So, do you mean it's ok as long as they are in different meals, like one in the a.m. and the other in the p.m.?  Do you have to make sure a certain amount of time has passed?

our days all chicken farms and eggs are inspected for salmonella, for me is much more benefits than risks.
as for raw beef  no risk at all.

I feed raw eggs, raw pork, beef and chicken. No issues at all.

Almost every vet office I have been in offers for sale Science Diet or some other soy bean loaded food. Veternarians are the last place I would seek feeding advice.

The glucosamine and vit. c is great for  soft or slow ears.
