I feed veal feet. Well, I guess I have fed beef feet from the store, but they are pricey.

To feed cow tripe, hand tripe to dog. Depending on how you feed, prey model or RMB, you can either cut the tripe into big pieces or just hand over the whole damn thing.

To feed chicken liver....good luck with that. Mine spit it out. They gulp beef liver.

Hey, here's a new one. I found out that Muslims eat Halal meat, like Jews eat Kosher. If you can find a Halal processor, you can get lots of innards for free.

Sounds like you should feed this puppy proper food until the dog is older OR until  you find out what you're doing.I would NOT take that chance with a young pup.Perhaps you could feed a large breed puppy food until the dog matures a bit.In the meantime you would be gaining alot of knowledge on the raw diet.Good luck

you can buy 10 lbs of chicken leg quarters for about $6. hand it to the dog,  they will take care of the rest.  you can feed chicken necks, canned mackrel, beef tongue, liver, heart, raw bones ect.  most are fairly inexpensive.  also, any meat you have with freezer burn, or out of date,  give to your dog.  know any hunters or farmers?

Careful with the livers, they should be at least from naturaly fed stock( no chemicals)  The liver is a filter so it is concentrated w/the bad things.

I feed a formulated raw that has been used for pups. the proof as they say is in the pudding.

BUT

I am with Dominic, I would feed a formulated dry pup food when new to raw. (as much as I hate most of them,Kind of anal) Anyway unless you have someone who can show you the proof and years of feeding.

Just my two cents...

If you are going to feed just Raw you have to add some stuff to it to make it complete. I feed Raw but the raw i feed and sell has added vitamins and minerals. The best thing is green tripe.. It smells but it's great for them. I also add in salmon oil. With a little bit of kibble (country naturals) which i sell also. It's a great food to mix in with the Raw and it's made here in the Northeast. I was mixing in Royal Kanine but the price is rediculous.

Please consider joining the Yahoo RawFeeding group - I have been part of that group for about 2 months now, and learned more than i thought was possible! It's an awesome group - no bickering, no nonsense, just 100% raw feeding information and help.

The cow feet - rather avoid them, unless they are from very young animals (veal). The weight-bearing bones of large ungulates are most likely to cause tooth damage (long-term, not visible damage right now) due to their high denisty.

For Whole Prey Model feeding, your goal is 80% meat, 10% edible bone and 10% organs, balanced over time.

This means that you don't need to feed bone *every day* or organs at *every meal*. 10% bone is not much, even for a large GSD.

My girl is an "average" size, and her bone requirement is about 70g/day, which is a bit more than 2 ounces per day!

It is actually quite difficult to get the bone volume low enough!

Check out the Yahoo group - they will answer all your questions and more, quickly and efficiently.
