Im feeding my 4 month old GSD an All Life Stages kibble (Nutrilife All Gold) in the morning and Raw in the afternoon. How much of the kibble and raw meat should I give him to prevent hip displayasia from excess protein content but provides optimal performance and health for him. I want to give him fish oil supplements but I don't know how and what to give him to provide him with the Omega's and the all important DHA?Also, what is the optimal weight for four months, five months, 6 months, and on.
Thanks,
Dre

I feed Innova large breed puppy until they are 6 months old and then switch to the adult. I feed 2/3 rd kibbgle and 1/3 rd raw morning & evening. Hamburger in the morning and chicken necks or 1/2 back in th evening with hot water poured on top of the meat, just enough to warm the meat & fill the bowl a little bit. I give Vit. E in the morning and Fish oil in the evening.
Don't go by the pups age go by their weight. You want to see their ribs some, be careful to not put too much weight on them. I like them to look healthy and full but it's better for them to look a on the skinny side. The extra weight is too much for their fast growing bodies. As they grow you gradually increase the amount of food (Kibble & raw) you feed. It depends on each dog. You can give Vit. C, it is very good for ligaments & tendons and helps to strengthen their hips. Be carefull not to give too much or it can give them loose stools or worse.
Occasionally I give canned Salmon meat with their kibble, great sruff for their coats, :o)
