Follow your vet's advice, or, alternately, if you don't like your vet's advice, find one you do like, who shares your same views, and follow their advice. You should discuss it with your vet if you have a problem, not on here. This isn't a group of veterinarians, and even if it were, your puppy has been seen by whom you must consider to be a good vet, or why would you take your puppy there? The puppy is in pain due to inflammation, witnessed by limping; that is why he was given the pain medication. There are other medications out there, but the puppy should have something. Discuss it with your vet.

Try spraining your left elbow and take no pain medication. Sorry for seeming to be so rude, but when people ask for this kind of information and advice without first discussing it with their vet and leaving the dog in pain while in the process, it gets under my skin.

I would recommend following the vet's advice. Please keep in mind that you should be very careful to limit the dogs activities. You don't want him getting too rambunctious because he doesn't feel the pain of his injury.

Make sure you give the rimadyl with food.
Always,
Cee
