Dear friend,
I have also seen your ad about your puppy with soft ears & hip problems.
Are you a breeder?
I am asking this because if you were a breeder, you would know that you do not puchase ever a puppy for it to become a show dog or a SchH dog.
If you want such a thing and to be 100% sure, you purchase an adult and you keep puppies of your own breedings that MAY become show or SchH prospects....
Hips, elbows & soft ears problems are nowadays quite common in such a commercial breed. It has happened to me.
I know Inge, she has trained for me one of my dogs. I do not know her that well and I have never purchased a puppy from her but these problems have happened to me from other breeders.
If you ask breeders of GSDs today they will tell you to take puppies off the puppy food at 10-12 weeks so as to promote slow growth, that may lead to bone problems, to provide soft, antislippery floors for them and not to let them play a lot.
Now, this is what I suggest: Even if both parents have HD & ED normal, you get HD & ED problems occasionally. Check the OFFA website to see the stats....
Moreover, soft ears should have been taped, if not up, at the age of 5 months (although I have corrected ears in 2 dogs 8 months old)

1) Regarding the hips problem I would confirm that HD or ED is present and if so, I would do the best for this dog. If not, I would proceed to No2 below.
2) Regarding the soft ears you should talk with either breeder and ask them for ear taping.

You will not gain anything by arguing with them and acusing them instead you will not have any help.

GSDs are a "commercial" breed today (like the Goldens & the Labs) and as such, overbreeding has lead to many problems. So, you either choose to go along with it or you stop breeding...

All the Best

By the way, is your puppy out of Kwantum Klostermoor?

If so, he has known soft ear problems (like Vegas)! Everybody in Germany knows it yet, they really use him a LOT in the breedings....

Both dogs' ears I have tapped at 8 months age are luckily up now!
