If a dog has severely dry skin, can you breed him? Will it be passed on to the puppies? Thank you.

How old is he?
Sometimes they grow out of it.
What dog food are you feeding?
Does he play in the grass, woods, water....
I put a cap of extra virgin olive oil into the dog foog and the dry skin disappeared. No out breaks for over 2 years now.

I know that allergies can be inherited. A friend has a beagle with life-threatening allergies, and the dog's sire has thrown a number of pups with the same problem. The allergies show up as severe itching and even hives on the dog's skin.

He's only four months and he does play in the grass and water. Woods occasionally. We don't think it's inherited because, from what we know, his parents and so forth haven't had any problems. I'll try the olive oil thing.
Thanks.
Thanks.
