The dog that GSDTravels stumbled across yesterday can be helped if we all let tese people know that we care....! Please send off an e-mail to Klamath County, Oregon animal control officers to let them know you care!

OK ==== the head of Animal control in Klamath County, Oregon is this guy, here is his E-mail address, please guys, let him know a lot of people care about this little girl, so she's not just shot to get rid of her! I forwarded her pictures to Bruce, hope you don't mind! Phone # isToll Free:

Unfortunately, I called and talked to Ryan.  He gave me the "You don't know if the dog lives around there...We only have two people for the whole county...Call the SPCA...Yadda, Yadda, Yadda.  They could set a trap but they're often stolen and have no way to secure it.   Dog could be miles away by now."  I got pretty much nowhere.  I'm tempted to go back there, even if it is a two day drive.  I just have a feeling with all of this, nobody really cares, "It's just another dog, nothing we can really do."  It burns my butt that they don't care to even try.  Should I fore-go Yellowstone and Central Colorado to go back and try to find her???  I'm so torn, just don't know what to do.  I have only three weeks left and have to be in Florida on the 28th for my daughter's wedding.  But then again, if I do nothing, looks like nobody else will either.  I should have gone back the next day, I could just kick myself.  But then, if I do find her, do I put her in the car with Drake, possibly risk compromising him?  I just don't know what to do and I wish I didn't care!

You should continue on with your travels.
Thats the way it should be.

I must say I agree with moons . I just did not want to be the first one to say it . I was afraid I would get bit .

The hard answer is what Moons says.

Keep on with your plans.  Sometimes there aren't fairy tale endings and we just do the best we can and you did try but she's either already too fearful or to the point of feral that she couldn't come to you so what would happen to her if you could catch her?

It's a hard truth but people can be cruel when it comes to unwanted animals, just take that horror story from Malaysia and the 300 dogs left to canabalize each other on an island.

Keep traveling and maybe find it in your heart to consider a donation to the SPCA or animal control organization in that county, since it sounds like they're woefully understaffed and underfunded.  A little might help ensure that the next dog doesn't end up in her predicament.

No biting from me, I just feel like I've let her down.  Just seems like nobody really cares, the ones who have the resources, anyway.  Very frustrating and very sad.

I care .

Which is why I included the e-mail addresses, a flood of e-mails could put a little pressure on them to act. It's the easy thing to say, we don't have resources, it could be this, it could be that......all that means is that they don't want to get off their butts to check it out. Why should they? Who's going to notice 1 stray dog? If it was dumped, if it was a stray, & no one has called about it, that means no one will hold them accountable for what they do or don't do. Time to find a local paper or TV news & up the ante.

GSDtravels, you continue on, I'm not trying to ruin your plans. But if there's something I can do from here, I'm going to try! She obviously HAD an owner, either she was dumped, or slipped her collar & got lost, either way animal control SHOULD be responsible for her. IT'S THEIR JOB! The citizens of Klamath county pay them to take care of dogs in her situation, not to pass the buck! I'm going to continue to make them aware that people all around the country are paying attention to them, & how they handle their responsibilities. Pure & simple.First by continuing to let them know that an international dog board is aware of the situation. Can't hurt! jackie harris

Gsdtravels,

You gave her  food-maybe she had strength from  what you  did do to carry on further-maybe you helped her in her travels to get where she needed to go.
I know what you mean about wishing you didn't care-it hurts sometimes. But in caring you make a difference-eveything is supposedly meant to be.

I will keep praying for dogs like her and for people like you that are so selfless and kind-hearted- to have the strength to keep caring:)
Thankyou!!!

HUGS

Katrina Kaiser and Molly
