the topic pretty much explains it all. i'm assuming that dark sable pups will be born if the father is dark sable and the mother is also sable but on the lighter side. can anyone confirm this?

No, that is not correct, you may still have black and gold, bicolours, or blacks depending on whats in the background on the pedigree.

I co-bred a litter this past January with a black sable sire and a lighter sable dam. We had black sables and black and tan in the litter. Both the sire and dam had one parent that was black and tan, and one that was sable. And going with paulie, yes, you can get bi-color and black as well, it depends on what colors are behind the parents.

No..you can not assume such things. If you are familiar with the bloodlines and what the parents may have produced in the past well you can guess. The gentic possibilities are open depending on the parents prepotency. Each litter can throw different results in results to what colors come out . Be patient... in the mean time you can read the gentics books to get an ideal of the *possibilities* :)

thanks for the info, i just looked at the pedigree and the father has a bi-color grandfather, the mother has bi-color and black/tan. i didnt see any blacks, but some of the pedigree didnt have pictures. i guess i'll prepare myself for any colors. this is the litter that i'm trying to get..
