Greetings,
I have just been amazed! I have been under the impression that the black gene has been nearly bred out of showlines especially the dominant showlines. A breeder emailed me with pedigrees of her dogs that have produced solid blacks when bred to a solid black and to other showlines. I am very interested if there are any other showline breeders here that have experienced this and have actually produced some solid black puppies from 100% Showline breedings or predominantly showline breedings? I breed West German Showlines but my last two litters I have bred my girls to a solid black male who is predominantly DDR but has a some West German Showline blood and have not had any solid black puppies.

My boy only throws Blacks no matter what he is mated to. 3 litters, 27 all wee black puppies and all bred to showline bitches, one was a Quantum vom Arminius daughter.
I have been asking on another thread what are the chances of this happening and apparently its quite rare.
My dream is to get a solid good enough for the ring. Hmmm nice!

I know of breeders that claim to breed them but if you research pedigrees, you
will quickly see that they have working lines in them.
It would be a very cool thing but haven't seen it yet!
And also, just because a dog gets in a show ring, doesn't make it a showline.
Once again,it goes back to breeding and pedigree.

The last contact I had, she felt her plan might take up to 10 years to show results. She is starting off with one of the top working "black" females to come out of Germany and has kept 3 females from a breeding to Arko Bujenter Land (sp), a S/L dog noted for exceptional conformation and also very good character. If the black comes back into S/L, it will be through the efforts of breeders like these. I just hope that they bring the working ability with them.
