Yesterday evening at about 5:30, I noticed that Sita was trying to vomit, but nothing came out. She was acting very normal in every other way. We did our obedience workout, her acting like something was caught in her throat. We got home and she started to puke up very small quantities of slime, foam and water. She ate and drank with normal appetite. I figured if something was caught in her throat dinner would dislodge it.
After dinner, her symptoms became worse. still puking up water, foam or slime, but not her food. I gave her a some pepto biamal, which didn't help. We went to the emergency animal hospital. After initial observation, we waited for all the really sick dogs and cats to be taken care of. She was given some x-rays that showed she's got lots of gas in her intestine and a whole lot more then just 2 cups of food in there.
They gave her some stuff to help her poop it out, which worked with very limited sauces, and more x-rays were taken an hour later. The change wasn't enough. She was given something to stop her puking for a while. The vet sent us home and told me to have my regular vet give her a barium x-ray to see if they can decide what is plugging her up. We got home at about 2:30 am. Jumped in bed and at about 3:20 Sita was begging to go outside. It was too dark to see, so I'll be searching the yard as soon as the sun comes up. Hope to see a really large plop.
Any suggestions on something to give her that will "hurry things up a bit"?

Good luck! I so hope you post good news today.
For future reference, though, this:
"I figured if something was caught in her throat dinner would dislodge it."
made my heart squeeze. With all due respect, NEVER, NEVER do this. If something was caught in her throat, her dinner could so easily have not got past the blockage but added to it and truly choked her right then and there.
Sending all good and positive thoughts your way.

Except that the radiographs showed "lots of gas" and lots of food, but sounds like for some reason they didn't think it was bloat.

I sure hope there's no towel or other ludicrous thing blocking up your dog.

They can also get a mesenteric (small intestine) torsion, which would show lots of gas in the intestines. Unfortunately, I have first-hand experience with this. Lost my little Dobie bitch, Freya, to it years ago.
Hope your dog does well, vomMarishal. You can never completely "dog-proof" anything. I've seen dogs eat everything from terra cotta plant pots to silk boxer shorts.
