I got to the Park late Monday, tried to drive up and got caught in 10 plus feet of snow in an avalanche area!  I drove to a town nearby, Klamath Falls, spent the night and tried again this morning.  When I go there the road had been plowed but the lake was not visible, cloud cover.  The rangers said it would probably not be visible today, bummer!  So I decided to take Drake out and let him frolic in the snow, his favorite thing to do.  After about an hour, time to head out, drove past the rim and voila!!  I've done lots of diving in the Caribbean and have never seen water this blue.  Absolutely stunning!  Also got some pics of the snow covering the buildings and of course, nut case, having a blast .

Great pics, beautiful scenery. Can't believe the amount of snow around the buildings. Drake seems to be having a ball. Liz

I can't believe there is that much snow in May. I have many happy memories traveling through Oregon, mostly with Onyx. Thanks for the pix.

There was no snow in town.  As I drove up the mountain snow was dotted through the woods.  Then, all of a sudden, FEET of snow lining the road.  I couldn't believe my eyes when I got to the top and the buildings were literally buried!  Drake was so excited, he loves snow.  He was an instant puppy as soon as he exited the car.  He kept running at me with a big grin on his face.  There were no people in the area so I just let him run.  There were work vehicles parked so I'm sure they were working in the building but we didn't see anybody.  He ran around for over an hour and it was so much fun seeing him that happy, I found myself laughting out loud at his antics!  At one point he was completely buried.  I haven't seen any bears, heard something very large in woods in the Redwood Forest but couldn't see what it was.  We SLOWLY walked in the other direction, curiosity can be dangerous so I didn't stick around to see what it was.  We're headed to Yellowstone and should be there withing the next couple of days so I'm sure I'll see some wildlife there.  Mostly I've seen beautiful birds but they're so hard to capture on film.  In the high Sierras I saw TONS of western bluebirds, beautiful.  But again, hard to capture.  I did zoom in on one in the top of a tree but only got a shot of its head, can't see the stunning blue on his body.  I saw one bald eagle in Texas, flew right over me.  I also saw three golden eagles in the mountains but had no place to pull over to attempt a picture.

Love the pics. I love all pics of Crater Lake, it's so magical. Sounds like you are having fun and seeing the best of the country. I have to settle for online realestate adds from Montana. You should not miss Glacier National Park in MT, stand ontop of the Great Divide. I WILL MOVE SOMEDAY!!!!
