I agree with Videx. I wouldnt join touch this scheme with a bargepole. In our area there is a breeder advertising  whites, black and silvers etc / " KC accredited breeder" . How do you get to be accredited while producinbg pups which are nowhere brred standard.  Ronaldo

I believe the breed standard in the UK includes the aforementoned colors.

But - I think the first poster missed the point from what I've read on the actual submissions.  Non-acceptabel colors wouldnot be registerable?

4.10 Future breeding standards:-

4.11 Any puppies registered by the Kennel Club must have parents who have both been hip X-rayed and have achieved a minimum status of a score of 20 ( with one side being no higher than 12 ) or a recognised overseas grade which is similar.

4.12 Any puppies registered by the Kennel Club must have parents who have both been elbow X-rayed and either graded by the BVA or have achieved a recognised overseas status.

4.13 The sire of any puppies registered by the Kennel Club must have passed a haemophilia test if bred in the UK.

4.14 Any puppies registered by the Kennel Club must have parents who have both been either tattooed or micro-chipped for identification purposes, in order for the individual dog to match his/her documentation.

4.15 The parents of every puppy to be registered by the Kennel Club must have had DNA identification recorded with the Kennel Club or a recognised overseas authority.

4.16 Any puppies registered by the Kennel Club should conform to the Breed Standard colour requirement.

Seems this is what people have been preaching here for some time?

Can't really be jigged looking at your link, but i bet it doesn't say accepted colours, white liver or blue. Liz

Ronaldo (the post I was answering) said nothing about livers and blues - just blacks, silvers and whites.

Ronaldo said  etc...  in this country we all know what etc. means..... blues, whites, livers, anything non standard. None of which are acceptable in the standard, and where then does it say whites are  in the U.K.? liz

It says so in the area of "colour" in the aforementioned link.

That being said - you've missed the point - as has Ronaldo....  he's saying there is NOW an accredited breeder that is breeding non-standard colors.  The "improvement plan" appears to want to limit that type of breeding, so - unless I'm missing something, Ronaldo's position does not seem to make much sense.

Under the K.C. accredited breeders scheme one can breed anything one likes, ie, colour coat length etc. etc. Ronaldo is saying as i am saying, this scheme is totally useless and does nothing for the quality of dogs being bred. The NEW TWO TIER scheme being proposed seperates the crap from the quality. The breed standard in this country states whites, livers, blues and any non standard colours as HIGHLY UNDESIRABLE, as they should be imo. So why would the KC accredited breeder scheme accept breedings of these colours, because it's a nonsense and that it what Ronaldo is meaning, so maybe you are missing something? liz
