Man dies separating fighting dogs
A man has died in Blackpool after he tried to intervene in a fight between two dogs.

Police said the 21-year-old victim was bitten by both animals when he tried to separate them at a house in Reads Avenue on Friday evening.

The man fell over and may have banged his head, said officers. He was treated by paramedics but died later.

The dogs, which were both German shepherds, have been destroyed at the direction of the owner.

'Puncture marks'

Lancashire Police said the victim was attacked in the house he shared with the owner in Reads Avenue at about 2000 BST.

"Both turned and made a sustained attack on him, making puncture marks on his upper body," said a spokesman.

"The owner of the dogs intervened and the dogs were dragged away."

The cause of death has not been officially established and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

"We cannot dismiss the possibility he died as a consequence of falling in the course of this incident," the spokesman added.

Unfortunately they were German Shepherds.

He must have hit his head by the sounds of it, and how unfortunate that he died, however, he obviously didn't know how to separate two dogs fighting.

My dad has two female Danes that given the chance would rip each others throats out, and chew up who ever got in the middle of it  I'm sure.

Very sad for the owner, a nightmare actually.

From what I've just seen and heard on the local news, this guy can't have had much way with all about him.  The dogs were aged 13 and 3

Sounds like the guy fell and triggered the bite the weakest response?

Well, I have no doubt that my 12 1/2 year old bitch and 4 year old bitch would "rock and roll" given the opportunity!

I'm waiting for the 12 1/2 year old to act her age!

Unfortunate that it had to be GSDs and it does sound like it could have been the fall vs. the dogs biting the guy.
