I want to send a package to Germany via US Mail. A gift. It is a couple of T- shirts. I know this is not German Shepherd related, but you know alot .... Do you think that postage from America to Germany will be costly?

Well, i have bought leashes and collars from Leerburg, they normally cost about 38 USA to send, but when they get to Belgium the Customs charge me another 40 to 50 USA in Euros
I would expect the people you send the shirts to to have to pay German Customs on the items
No one does anything at a reaonable price regards the postage these days, not the fault of who you buy from but the UPS and other companies are expensive,When i sent the Computer to Shelley, Ups and Direct want 110 Euros to send it, i got Belgium post to send it for 59 Euros i think
Now i will buy nothing from the USA because of customs this end

UPS and Fedex are too costly to ship. USPS global is a little cheaper, if just a couple of shirts probably about $20 to ship, declare the value, customs on the other end. only put gift if it is truly a gift.
2lb package flat rate is $13, priority is $30.

It may run you $25 at most and if you declare it as a gift there is no customs due by the recipient.
Steve, if you want to buy online from a US shop arrange with a friend in the US to use his/her mailing address and have it re-shipped to you as a gift.

Dawn,
I don't really send anything to Germany, because it is usually not worth it due to high postage.
But I checked with my co-worker who is responsible for anything related to shipments to and from Germany in our office and he told me the following:
T-Shirts can be sent in a large jiffy envelope. Fees should range between 8 to 12 US-Dollars.
Make sure that you fill out the green customs form. When you check out the following link to our Customs Office in Germany, you will see that nothing should exceed the value of 45 Euros, as anything over it would be subject to duty for the recipient in Germany. www.zoll.de/english_version/faq/c0_postal_traffic/postverkehr/index.html#Post1
Hope that helps.
Regards, Chris

I mail packages to EU frequently and so far nobody had to pay any extra. the most expensive one was about 75 bucks. And that was a BIG one.
Go ahead, send it but make sure that you do not state anything that MUST go through customs. I put down, gift or paperwork, donation. Sometimes book and things like that.

When i said i had to pay Customs duty i meant that i had to pay customs duty, and i had to pay it to UPS who delivered the stuff from Leerburg on several occasions, I do not think they worded it gift of the packets but Belgian Customs was paid, sometimes more than the goods that is why i will never buy anything from the USA again
