I recently saw a training video and they talked about the best leashes for training. They said that light, wide nylon is the best, as dogs almost don't feel it and that helps into transitioning them into off leash work. They said that quality nylon leashes are not sold in regular pet stores!

Where can you find good nylon leashes?

Do you agree that nylon is better than leather? (they stretch and dogs like to chew on them!)

I like leather best . It looks better longer and seems to give more control then the nylon , I guess it depends on what your using it for .

I prefer leather. If a young dog tries to bolt after something when he's on a leash, leather doesn't cut the  hands like nylon can. I also like the new leather-like material. It feels like leather but doesn't stretch and water doesn't affect it. Great stuff.

After you've had a couple of nylon burns, you'll go to leather.

Incavale.. .that's just where I was going...

Leather or cotton... for distance work use a cotton Horse Lunge line.

I personally like the leather for reason stated above.. but if you are wanting to do off leash then a simple clothes line rope works or heavy shark line (But this is only when you have control of the dog) I just bought the leather like leash and I'm a new fan of that too. Never have been one for nylon.

Can't use nylon can't grip it, so I prefer Leather leads and they have to be 3/4 to an inch wide, otherwise again I can't grip - not a huge fan of cotton although I do use  a lunge line for tracking.
