Hi Steve,
So far the two team members that have qualified for the WUSV are Dan Cox with Chuck vom Dorneburger Bach & Mike Diehl with Erri z Blatenskeho Zamku. The rest of the team will be decided at the WDA and AWDF championships.  Which both take place in May.

Let me see if I have this straight....the WUSV team is made up of the first place winner of the USA nationals (Dan), the WDC (Mike), and the first and second place winners from the WDA championships?   (as long as the USA reps score 270 or above at another national event)  Right?  I know I'm missing someone.

So...that means the first place winner out of 52 competitors from USA nationals, and the first and second place winners out of 21 competitors from the WDA nationals are all world team members?

Not a math whiz, but if I were trying to get on a world team, I'd probably compete at the WDA nationals, huh?  What am I missing here?  Plus I don't have to score 270 or above at another national event as a WDA team member?

Why doesn't everybody do it if they think they have a shot?  Who knows, the rest of the competitors could have a bad day!  :-)

That is not quite accurate.    Dan Cox is a definite, because he won the Nationals and got a qualifying score at the WDC (275).  Mike has 277 & 293 ( 285 average).  BUT...the AWDF Championship is also a qualifier and other individuals still in the running could beat Mike's average with a score from the AWDF.    For example:

Carlos Rojas 287 & 276--if he got a 290 at the AWDF, avg.= 288
Gary Hanrahan 285 --if he got a 286 at the AWDF, avg.=285.5
Lisa Jacquin    275 & 287, if she got a 286 at the AWDF, avg.=286.5

Math is not my strong-suit, so somebody check it.  But, the average of the two high scores is the determining number.   So, it is not a "done deal, " except for Dan Cox.   Also, remember that the HOT dogs are, if I recall correctly, also awarded an extra 5 points.  If I am correct, Lisa may be the most likely second membeer  from USA, with a third person from USA as as alternate.   The WDA Championship will determine the rest of the team.

why don't you think Mike Diehl? Hes on the USA WUSV allready as was proven in the Leerburg Webpages cause he won the Championships in Kentucky as the hi german shepherd! What you wrote is all wrong

Pat,

I have made it quite clear why Mike Diehl is not a "given " for the Team.   Read the rules for Team selection.   Further:

1.  There was no  USA championship in Kentucky.  There was a Working Dog Championship in Tennessee.  It is one of THREE qualifiers for the Team. The other qualifiers are the USA National Championship (held in Texas) and the AWDF.  Read the rules.

2. The scores are averaged, and the highest average score is eligible for the Team.  Read the rules.

3. The winner of the USA Nationals, Dan Cox, only has to get a qualifying score (270 or better) at one other qualifier to make the team.  He made 275 in Tennessee at the WDC.  Again, read the rules.   Also, consider the possible 5 point addition.  Check USA Minutes of the GBM 1998.

For those interested in finding the rules themselves, check the USA website.  www. germanshepherddog.com.

I say:  I trust what Nia wrote that you responded to in the above quote.  Nia knows the rules, I'm glad she's so willing to share knowledge so freely.

Oh gee, I guess we're tag teaming again.  LOL

from those that have qualified based on the average of their

two highest qualifying scores.

a. Scores from the 2008 USA-GSD National

Championship, the 2009 USA Working Dog

Championships, and the 2009 AWDF Championship

(the three eligible qualifying trials) will be used to

b. The 2008 USA-GSD National Champion and 2009

qualifying score of 270 points at one of the other

qualification trials in order to have a guaranteed spot

on the USA WUSV World Championship Team.

c. A club of which the candidate is not a member must

have hosted one of the two qualifying trials.

2. The USA World Championship Committee will conduct a

final review to determine which team members will

represent USA based on the qualification requirements

the selection of the team. Announcement of the team

members will be made as soon as practical.

4. Financial support for the team is limited to contributions

received.

Team Members

Team and USA members of the AWDF FCI IPO World
