Ok I know, I know, this is a German Shepherd forum but I got bored so I thought I would post the link to the video I just made of my new mal. I've only had him since the first of January but he's been a load of fun and he's is finally starting to act like the terror I knew he could become if given the chance. :)

I've had no experience at all with Mals.
What are they like compared to a GSD?

Neither had I until this little guy!

Drive wise he has lots of prey but is quick to go into defense because he's a little on the nervy side. I have met a fair amount of Mals that are very stable environmentally and socially but I think their ability to handle stress is much different from a GSD and the imprinting/puppy stage is even more crutial with mals because they do have a tendency to be on the flighty side.

In regards to training Rafe has been very simple (once I got him biting things) because of his very high prey drive, he has a naturally calm grip which I didnt expect and because he's still a little unsure of everything he counters nicely.

Conformation is of course different, the mals prefer a lope type movement to the GSD trot. Rafe is also missing a few teeth, which I've heard is consistent in some Mal lines. They are also very quick because of their long legs.

I am at no means a expert of mals these are just the things i have observed and information from other people I've soaked up.
