My wife got excepted to Texas Tech and it looks like we are moving to Lubbock Texas.  I would like to know if there is any good Schutzhund clubs close by?

Please help because I would like to meet everyone prior to moving.

Thanks in Adavance

Unfortunately, I know nothing about Texas, except that I got lost there repeatedly last November. :-) So, I am not sure which cities are closest to Lubbock, which I "think" is in East Texas (?) Check the United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USA) site www.germanshepherddog.com and click the top left-hand link. Scroll down to "Club list" and then South Central region for the clubs in Texas. Austin has some wonderful, "Good People," Danny and Julia Grayson. Contact them about other clubs closer to Lubbock. Remember, if you do schutzhund, you travel. Find a club with people you enjoy being with (major important factor--this is supposed to be fun!), and where you are comfortable with the training. Happy Training!

would Midland or Odessa TX be too far?

Midland or Odessa is just under 3 hours away.  I would like to find a club closer but would travel if needed.  If you have a contact for clubs in Midland or Odessa please let me know.  I did look at United Schutzhund Clubs of America but I didn't find any info on a Club near or in Lubbock.

It doesn't have to be a club associated with USA.  I belong to a DVG club now and I am a member of USA and DVG.  I just love to train and learn from everyone.  I think everyone has something to share in training wether they have years and years of experience or just started.

Also, I am a helper at my club now and would love to continue to do so.

You're a helper? Jeeze, you will be welcome to what ever club you decide to check out. :-)

Thanks for contacting us. As far as I know, there are no formal groups in
Lubbock that train in schutzhund. There are a few folks in Amarillo. You
can contact David Reiger at drovers@arn.net. Locally, June Marble has
earned some schutzhund titles on her German shepherds. She is a member of
our obedience club and you can email her at w6vpi@juno.com. I hope this
info helps. Take care.

Rbarlow,

You are a helper!  Start your own club--"if you build it, they will come."  If you hang out your sleeve (so to speak) they will come!    In all probablilty, you will find experienced folks who left clubs, or had to move too far away from their club, that would love to train with you.  Put the word out that you are a helper and interested in  forming a training group or club.
