The subject line says it all. Whatever you've done, it's very speedy. I'm on a Mac using FireFox and Safari. The pages load equally fast in both browsers, photos pop right in, it's grand. No problem with the text editor, no odd characters inserting and the formatting features work fine here.

Thanks, Oli!

Yes, thanks Oli!

I'm also on a Mac. I was traveling, using the wifi in the hotel and airport, and it was still fast, faster than other sites. Now that I'm back on my home wifi, it's lightening fast!

Thanks for taking the time to work on this site even in the midst of everything going on. I'm a relative newbie, and this site has been invaluable to me. Your work is appreciated.

Thanks,

I had to switch to a beta editor to fix other performance issues.  The file uploader / browser is unavailable for now,  as soon as the programming team begind this editor release a stable release with file browser I will install it.

Most of my performance enhancements have been aimed at speeding up end-user loading time.  So I have HTML compression which means that a f.i. messageboard page that used to be 200k is now perhaps 20k and decompressed at the endpoint (i.e. your computer) decreasing the time spent in downloading the HTML, browser image caching enabled meaning that your computer wont re-download images that it has already downloaded,  I set the height / width tags for each and every image, meaning that the browser can go ahead and render (i.e. show) the page even though it hasn't downloaded the picture. (by knowing the width and height of an image the browser can assume its size and influence and how the page will look and carry on showing the rest of the page)

All designed to make the pages show really fast immediately and then slowly bit by bit download the rest, rather then download all items then show the page.

Nice to know you notice :)

It's much faster, Oli, & I'm relieved to know that it's not my computer/software that won't upload images; thank you very much. I know so little about this cyber-magic, I always assume that performance issues stem from the amount (either more or less) of dog hair or dust in my computer tower, (that tall black thing with the cup holders that pop out when I press a button). My brothers are both well versed in this area, they did explain to me that the cup holders were actually disk drives, (who knew?) but that's about as computer savvy as I get. And my computer is old, I bought it in 2002 from the Xi company in California. Probably time to upgrade. My step daughter ordered it for me, as a joke (?) she ordered me the 'disco' version, it has blue neon tubes down each front corner, & a big cut out window in one side, with pink & blue lights inside......which means I have to turn it off every night, as it's in my bedroom. I've been told that may also cause performance issues, but if I can't sleep, I have performance issues! Any way, hope you got a laugh! Best wishes! jackie & carl harris

Okay, but I also use a handheld, a Sidekick, a lot of the time.  Since the changes, I cannot post to the forum at all from the Sidekick.  So, when I am not tied to a computer, I cannot respond to anything.  I can, however, read everything.

Today I am having the same problem. I have a new computor Dell and windows xp 2 and I have problems posting  Have to click several times.  Cannot post pics yet.

If  I try to use the style with color differences   half of post never shows up in the message box.  Since I have dial up , it is faster than last week.

I am not a computor buff so I know nothing about correcting any problems..Rest of my reading is fine.

Thanks for giving us a great site.

Thanks again.

I had trouble posting for a couple days both at work and at home.  Today at work I could not post at all.  At home now all is working fine.

And FAST.

Thanks Oli

I'm not noticing any real difference, but I'm on a 28.8 kbps dialup connection, so I know it isn't anything to do with the actual site...It's just my connection.  Also, thanks for letting us know that there was an issue with the file uploading/browsing software.  I, too, thought it was my computer software that was acting up.

Thanks, Oli, for the forum, and for all you do to speed things up.  It's very appreciated, even if our connections don't let us do much with it.

Crys
