I was going through some old papers the other day and ran across the AKC registration papers for my first shepherd. Bought him as a 5 week old pup back in 1979 and 30 years later I still miss him. I was thinking of putting up a small memorial garden for him and was looking for ideas or better yet, some pictures. I was thinking maybe a small bench and some flowers? Just wondering what others have done. Thanks!

A small bench and flowers are a great idea. You can get a little plaque made for the bench or you can have a memorial stone made in his memory. http://www.rockitcreations.com/ I had one made for my late boy. The stone is about 7X 12", it has a German Shepherd head it and it says, "Bruno, we will love you always 1993-2007". It's really beautiful. Right now it sits on the hall tree as you enter through the front door, along with his photograph. One day I will put his stone along with his ashes and collar in our garden- just not ready yet. I still miss him terribly.

Astras garden had a huge rock in it with her name one it. Because she was a DS with stripes, I put in tiger lillies, toad lillies, and grasses that have stripes in them, the tulips that come up in the spring are fire engine red. I have a night glow ball that is solar powered. It probably drives her up her tree, but see really loved her toy balls. All I want to do is hold her one more time. I am still having a hard time re-defining myself, but I will get there. Jami is being such a good puppy, and of course Sabin who is a GS, he is not as depressed after her passing, he is starting to run around again. I have been going to a pet loss group twice per month and that helps too. I bring pictures and tell everybody about her. I still cry each time, and they all cry with me, some of our group have been coming for two years or more because they want to still honor that special pet in their lives. I feel comfortable in this group because they do not judge me. I hope this helps.

How much are you willing to spend? I love this http://www.lawnornamentsandfountains.com/ProductImages/008arrons/germmyb.JPG although I would get it in the concrete finish, myself. Memory roses http://http://www.justourpictures.com/roses/lovingmemory.html arelovely and forget-me-nots are always a sweet choice for memorial gardens. This website has a good variety of memorial stones. http://www.4everinmyheart.com/?gclid=CMbw2rr5hpoCFSMgDQodKFZ9FQ

Steve, you are not getting soft you are just showing you really do care. Our emotions builds bonds that can not be broken or forgotten. I love roses, there is a violet color hot house rose that is so smells so nice, can not grow them, here the winter is too cold. Have a great day, I am glad you like roses too.

My Rainbow Bridge dogs are all in boxes on my dresser. (its getting pretty crowded) I don't bury them because I don't want to leave them behind if I move. When my time comes, I have left instructions to mix all our ashes together, sprinkle them out of a small plane over the Santa Cruz Mtns. above the SF Bay Area, (Skyline Blvd/Hwy 35 = HOME in my heart of hearts) where my Daddy waits for us.

Shelley that's exactly what I have done, though my guys are in urns, not boxes.......... I also wanted them to go with us if we ever moved, I couldn't bear the thought of leaving them behind. All our ashes will be scattered over the Rocky Mountains, since that's where we live and have been so happy.

I have around 60 Rose bushes in the Garden, but this last winter took its toll on them and many did not make it, days of minus 20 degs centigrade they did not like and the stems got burnt badly
One beautiful deep Yellow Standard rose did not come into leaf this year a nice thing to see, I had to cut them back hard only 2 weeks ago but i tghink the showing will not be good this year, All my roses are scented and repeating roses There was a couple of nice Mauve Roses and i will post a Pic of them if they come out, The Azaleas did not get affected by the hard winter and one a red is out now

I bet when they are in full bloom your garden is a nice place to sit and enjoy life. I would love to see a picture when it happens.
