Both femoral heads show flattening with a fairly pronounced "lip" on right (as I look at the screen) and both sockets are shallow. Not good coverage on either side. Is this a pre-purchase exam? I think I would pass.

Thanks Mirasmom. I cannot get the pics to show up no matter what. I'm not the most computer savy and have never tried to do this. Can you get the other pic to show up also? It is a closer view of the hips.

I've tried putting in the code every way I can think of but the picture still won't show up! Sorry!

IMO the actual structure isn't terrible - femoral heads and necks are normal - sockets should be rounder/deeper but still not too shallow - however the femoral heads are not seated in the sockets enough to be called "good" or even acceptable - and the left hip (right in picture) is over-rotated which makes it look better than it probably actually is. I would say these hips will not pass, though they are not "severely dysplastic" IMO - mild or moderate.

I wish I could get this bigger so you could see better, but these are OFA excellent hips. Notice how round the femoral heads are how they fit tightly into sockets with good coverage of head by the socket. Your x-ray shows subluxation of both hips. How old is the dog? That can make a difference in the subluxation.
