My little pup pup quit eating yesterday and wont take anything today no matter what I give. It's been very hot here, thought it might be the heat but his stools got softer and softer. I'm watching him like a hawk and he is still drinking lots of water, peeing and hydrated but I just watched him poo a ton of water, clear almost, no smell that I can really notice, we came right to me and wagged his tail when I put him back in his kennel and drank more water. No blood or super foul smell...what does that mean? I'm going to make him an appt but what should I ask the vet to look for? I have to use the local vet and they are not my fav.

Ok, how old is the pup? How long have you had him? Any change in foods? Just how hot is it there? Lots to consider. Get him to the Vet A.S.A.P and have this info ready so the Vet knows what has been going on. Good luck!

With pure watery diarrhea, make sure they do a live smear for giardia.

Panacur for 7 days 1 cc for every 10 lbs...it is called Goat wormer at Tractor Supply...Sitasmom had the same problem....Probably worms, not there a week ago as the eggs stick and grow after pup comes to you ,,,not breeders fault at all........ and residual of Cocci and upset gut.
urry had the same problem both cured up in 5 days. If you have some Flagyll give the pup about 1/2 of a 250 mg pill now and 1/2 in 6 hours....also if you have Immodium AD liquid...give the child dose immediately...do not wait ...also Petsmart has puppy diahrea in a bottle , get some now...if not give immediately Immodium ad I do not use pepto or kaopect . My vet said too much aspirin content in it...if you have to use it right now go ahead,,some is better,,,YOu have to get diarhea stopped now.. or slowed...Flagyll has antibotic properties and diahrea check...
then start the Panacur for seven days.

Hi Michelle,Sorry to hear the little guy is not feeling good.I beleive the vet will automatically screen for the usual suspects such as worms etc.I do think that you will have to ask for the giardia test or at least make sure they send the stool sample that you bring in(hopefully you can get one)out to the lab instead of inhouse. If you can, perhaps some bland WHITE rice(more digestible)and a little boiled chicken just to get something in his tummy.A tablespoon of pumpkin will probably help with the stool as well.Hope everything works out.It actually is quite common for these little guys to go through this worm thing at some point when they're so young.I think if it were something more serious like parvo you would see more symptoms so as long as you keep him away from other dogs poops you should be ok.Good luck Michelle

Temp is 102.9. I just picked up a sample jar, to collect next time he goes. I couldn't get in sooner than tomorrow afternoon. If he goes downhill, I will take him to my prefered vet that has ER services 24/7. He's due for more puppy shots but should I wait since he sin't feeling well already?

I just dealt with Parvo 7 months ago. This is exactly what happened. I did not get the foul odor in the stool until the 2 1/2 day mark. Then it was unmistakable.
I hope this is not the case, but that was my first experience with Parvo and my dog almost died, and she was a year old, so i would not wait.
Good luck and hope he is OK.

that happened to 1 of my dogs for the past 2 days. i found out he wasnt hungry due to filling his stomach with water. mabey your puppy is too full with water. hence the diariah. also could be giardia. have your vet check for that.
