I am doing some test matings and I would like to get your opinions, please. Looking at these two pedigrees- which mating would you prefer and why.  Thanks for your time!

agree with uberland,

second mating.  i have an olix karthago grandaughter.  easy to train, hard as nail.

i have to ask where clint could be found and if he is available for stud.   i would be interested in using him myself.

im guessing you own the female.  are you training her in any venue?  she has a pretty nice pedigree herself.  have you breed her before?  just wondering if you have  how the pups turned out.

also with the first mating being an outcross you stand a greater chance of the pups being all over the board.  some good, some bad, some middle.    with the linebreeding, you at least have a chance of staking the deck, for better and worse.

as with any breeding, one must take a very objective look at both parents.  strengths and weakness.  pair up the best you can and hope for the best.

good luck.  let us know what you decide.

Thank you John!  I can ask about Clint.  I do not know his owner- just a friend of his.  I can get the message out for you though.

She is a very hard dog and she has been bred before.  She had a litter last September and if she is healthy enough for one last breeding, this would be her last litter as she's turning eight.  She does good bitework, is good in obedience and is a phenomenal tracker.  I have had her for a year now and am constantly impressed.  I'm attaching a pic of a female (Baronessa Vom Lisdorferland) we kept from her last litter who is a carbon copy of her mother and her great traits.   You can see how she looks and she was the runt!  We hope with her we can get more in to the sport as she is a firecracker.

I know what you mean about the outcross, although I was lucky to get one recently.  I don't want to take any chances with this being the last time she'll be bred. We are really going back and studying both pedigrees thoroughly, and haven't ruled out continuing to look.  We have until July.
