Oli (admin)

by Oli on 21 April 2009 - 19:04

Hi,

You have probably been wondering about my lack of presence here for the past weeks.

I have had the unfortunate experience of having one of my best friends (who happened to be also my wifes brother)  pass away the 12th of april.   He got a very serious illness that has pretty much kept him and us, his friends and family, with him on the hospital since end of February.

I kind of went into a no-bother zone where (in my oppinion) petty squabbles here didn't bother me nor interest.   I did though take solace in going into technical stuff,   just spending hours and hours working on highly technical issues like web server compression serving and database stored images caching mechanism.    It helped me pass away time while at home..

So I ask forgiveness for not responding to these numerous cries for help and hope that you will understand my scenario.
The funeral is tomorrow and I have been helping his family in all the mundane matters that follow any death so I will probably be back in action after the weekend.

In other words,  hasn't anyone felt any speed increases in the website for the past week or two?

Regards

Oli

Sorry for your loss...and you have been missed.Seems speedy to me, especially with all the constant animations. The editor is doing funny things though, like now, hitting return wouldn't skip a line. Never mind, deal with this stuff later.nbsp

Hi Oli - I can relate. I just came back from my Mom's funeral in the UK. You are never prepared for the loss, and I can well understand your need to retreat into something which doesn't have to do with people........ my sincere condolences to you and your wife at this very sad time.

No apology necessary, you do a great job in keeping things running smoothly here - thank you!

Oli,

I am very sorry for your loss.  That is exactly the type of thing that puts "real world" into perspective.   We all FULLY understand.   I hope that with time, you will not feel the loss so painfully, but will remember the good times and cherish the memories.

Be well and Take Care.
