Mystere

Because I have received a couple of PMs asking, I thought I'd  just make this another thread.

Cascade had its first trial of the year this past weekend.    It was a full trial, with a variety of breeds:  gsd, mals, dobies, 2 RSNs, a Bouv and a kelpie.  The shutzhund gods blessed us with GOOD WEATHER!!  The last couple of trials have been in pouring rain or snow, so sunshine and 60 degrees was a nice change!!    There were a few "failures" (but, schutzhund is a humbling sport and if you don't learn from the failures in schutzhund, you gotta be brain-dead).  Lots of nice scores for dogs titling and progressing in their titles. So, all in all, everyone had a grand time in the rarely seen  PNW sunshine.

The kelpie, Sparky, a  club favorite (because she is so darn cute!), apparently had trouble with the tracking--5 pts. only.   She then earned 71 points in OB1.  Or, rather, the judge stated he was not going to fail the dog, because of the handler's constant clumsy handler "help."  I think the problem was that, under stress, both the dog and handler reverted to their earlier retriever training, complete with a retrieve to the left hand-side of the handler.  :)

The Bouv was handled by Brian Curry, from Calgary (Canada) and was  really impressive.   The Mals, of course, did their thing.  But, in the final analysis, the High protection, High Tracking and High in Trial,  went to a GSD!!!!   (Thank GOD!!)   And, yes, Charlotte, it was a Zico kid, Reiki.  :)      98/88/98!!!

The "Helper's Favorite" was also a gsd,  Eddy, owned and bred by Dorwin Anderson of British Columbia.    Eddy is a second-generation breeding by Dorwin and his wife.   They have previously competed at the WUSV with a dog of their breeding and have also had a dog of their breeding on the WUSV team from another country (I think it was Switzerland, if I recall correctly).     Dorwin and Eddie got the Sch/VPG 2 at this trial.   Hopefully, Dorwin will make the Canadian  WUSV team with Eddie this year.

The club held a silent auction and some- damn-body-who-sahll-remain-nameless outbid me on a 50 lb bag of sorely needed grass seed.  That's okay.  50 lbs of fertilizer went with it and I "dropped a dime" to the State Patrol about some woman heading up I-5 with 50 lbs. of fertilizer in her van.  :D  ( just kidding!) Don't  participate in any silent auctions with Animules--she does not play fair!! :)

Hey!!!!  When I see something I like at silent auctions no way am I going to risk not winning it!  Boa's new collar is beautiful and my jewelry.... :D     I now have new jewelry by Patti to wear for trials, I think I will make that part of my trial outfits, always wearing jewelry by Patti.  And it was not me driving up I-5 with the bag of fertilizer and "your" grass seed...  LOL

The trial was awesome.  There were some great people that came a long distance supporting the club.  Reiki gave an amazing performance.   Dorwin and Brian and their dogs coming all that way.  Wow.  Nice people and very nice dogs!

Charlotte, TWO Zico pups also got their BH.   One was Archer from "my" litter.   :D

Oh, I'm entertaining, and Tina's the best-Why?  Cuz she brings all the equipment we need to cook those great breakfasts and lunches, and tables, and propane, and brings a dummy dog out repeatedly, and handles the paper work, and stays at the field overnight, and...

hmmm guess I better settle for entertaining, while I am ahead!!

Charlotte,

I didn't take any photos and I am too much of a techno-idiot to post them, if I had.  :D  But, there was a girl there who has been taking great photos all along, so I am sure at some point, we can get some out to you.   Or, check wit Shade.

Ha!!  i was the nicest, sweetest thing there!!  Did I, or did I not actually GIVE Cindy the leash I outbid her on?  Did it make any sorr of impression on Teresa, though?  NO!!  She high-tailed it up I-5 with my damn grass seed anyway!   See what being saintly gets me?  :D:D

I don't know WHAT it is with me and silent auctions!!   I went hog-wild at the one the Delta club had in BC when they hosted the regionals one year.  I couldn't even stay to the end--just gave the Jantzens a bunch of bills and left for the border.  I STILL have some of thestuff they brought down the following week.  I didn't even remember looking at some of it, much less actually bidding on it!   I may be worse at the NON silent auctions.    Remind me to show you my $240  sweatshirt some time!!   Pitiful thing is that i DONATED that $65 sweatshirt in the first place, then just HAD to outbid Mary Dygert's husband for it!  I ended up paying another $175 for it!!
