there are so many threads where people ask "what is aggression, or civil, or fight drive, or etc"

for those who truly wish to better understand the drives of the german shepherd, i would recoment reading "Der Schutzhund" by Helmut Raiser.   there is an english version translated by Armin Winkler.    the first part is pretty scientific (even for a biology guy  like me).

if you do, or have and would like to discuss any of the info, you can pm me or start a thread about it.

Hi John, great thread.    I love that little book and refer back to it all the time.  In fact it's on my night stand right now!

I can't believe there wasn't more activity on this thread.  Maybe it was just because it was the weekend?  I hope the all the people who actually train their dogs in sport and the serious breeders havein't given up this entire message board due ot frustration with all the trolls, fucktards, pet people,  and know nothing blow hards this place seems to be lousy with as of late.   They are worse than cockroaches and all seem to have mutiplied and moved in.

 Sue,

I was at our club trial all weekend.   Cascade had another great trial , 25 entires with a variety of breeds entered:  gsd (High in Trial  was a gsd 98/88/98--Thank GOD!!), mals aplenty, dobies, a Bouv ,2 Giant Schnauzers, and a kelpie.    So, I have been away from the board.  Frankly, coming back and seeing all the crap, I  am glad I was gone.

That said,   I would like to thank Sue and John for their efforts in salvaging this board with threads on training.

What is civil, please?

by beetree on 20 April 2009 - 18:04

missbeeb, how have you been? I am going to take a stab in the dark and say "civil" means willingness to bite a person. Now, if I am wrong, we will soon find out together.:)
