BREEDERS; PLEASE THINK FIRST BEFORE BREEDING THIS YEAR, LET THE SHELTERS AND RESCUE GROUPS CATCH UP...WE ARE OVERFLOWING WITH GOOD QUALITY DOGS RIGHT NOW...I KNOW MOST OF YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE AND TAKE YOUR DOGS BACK, BUT THE PEOPLE YOU ADOPT TOO DON'T ALWAYS REALIZE OR REMEMBER THAT...THERE ARE TONS ON CRAIGS LIST AND I AM GETTING THEM IN FROM SHELTERS THAT ARE FINDING THEM IN THEIR DROP BOXES...I HAVE ONE FORMER BREEDING FEMALE FROM IDAHO FALLS, ID AREA RECENTLY, SHE WAS A BROOD BITCH AND GORGEOUS...GERMAN BLOODLINES FROM THE LOOKS OF HER...SHE WAS FULL OF MAMMARY TUMORS, AND WHEN I HAD HER SPAYED OVARIAN CYSTS...SHE DOES HAVE PANNUS WHICH WAS NOT BEING TREATED AND SHE IS ONLY ABOUT 4-5 YRS OLD...NO TATOOS AND MICROCHIP DOESN'T SCAN...I HAVE NO MORE FOSTER HOMES AND HAVE 10 RESCUE GSD'S IN MY HOME RIGHT NOW...

PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! THINK BEFORE YOU BREED ANYMORE THIS YEAR!!!

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, STEPHANIE; WWW.MONTANAGSDRESCUE.ORG

Thanks for the reminder, Stephanie.

I just saw a sad article in the paper yesterday. Shelters in Calgary, Alberta say that the number of dog coming in, either as owner surrenders, or abandoned, has increased threefold in the last year. They are stretched to the limit, but are begging people NOT to abandon their dogs.

One really sad case: someone picked up a purebred Lhas Apso that was wandering along the edge of the highway. They took her to the shelter, where, two days later, she gave birth.

I just don't understand how people can abandon a pregnant bitch, and still sleep at night....  ;(

Last year  I whelped out 2 purebred GSD's from shelters that were in the 3rd trimester, 4 days from whelping, and dumped at shelters, the year before 2 also...they were going to put them down, because no one was willing to whelp them out, sucker here took them, within 2 weeks, I had 22 gsd puppies running around in my house. One spare bedroom was made into a nursery and the mudroom the other.

12 healthy pups in the first litter and then 2 weeks later, 10 more healthy pups...luckily I found homes for all of them, screening with an application and making people pay a donation fee, to help out with spay/neuters, shots, vet bills and food.

Somedays I just get so tired of people...I want to cry...

Thanks for listening, Steph

AGAIN! AS BREEDERS IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO TATTOO AND M/CHIP OUR PUPS BEFORE THEY LEAVE OUR CARE, AND KEEP OUR CONTACT RECORDS ON EVERY RELEVANT ANIMAL RECOVERY DATABASE CURRENT AT ALL TIMES!

If you aren't willing and prepared to take the dogs you produce back at any time in future, regardless of condition or health, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS BREEDING THEM!

THANK YOU ALL WHO CARE, I JUST WISH THERE WERE MORE OUT THERE...

ALL THE DOGS IN MY PHOTO ARE RESCUES...THE PUP IN THE PICTURE IS A RESCUE FROM THE YEAR BEFORE LITTER. SHE WAS FROM AN ABUSE CASE IN KITSAP, WASHINGTON THAT HAD 20 SOME DOGS LIVING IN THEIR OWN HOUSE FREELY BREEDDING AND FIGHTING OVER THEIR FOOD, IT WAS A CONFISCATION...I TOOK IN A FEW MORE LAST YEAR FROM UP IN GREAT FALLS, MT ANOTHER SEIZURE OF 45 ADULT GSD'S, HALF PG...I ONLY TOOK THE ONES THAT WERE AGRESSIVE AND GOING TO BE PUT DOWN, WORKED WITH THEM,SOCIALIZING, ETC AND ADOPTED THEM OUT TO WONDERFUL FAMILIES...

SO  PLEASE HELP US OUT THERE...THANKS, STEPH

I sincerely wish breeders would take this concern to heart but I believe the majority will ignore.

I've noticed more advertisements for "breeders" that look to be just starting out. The sire and dam have no accomplishments except great with kids and started obedience (mainly at home).

I've also seen an increase on info requests about breeding on here.

Some breederes have already had 3+ litters with more on the way and it's only April!

SSDD.

by Jaxx on 17 April 2009 - 16:04

Unfortunately the SSDD is growing in volume when it comes to homeless pets- regardless of the reason.

Nothing wrong with a little wishing, hoping, and dreaming.

Maybe one person/breeder will be touched enough to listen and to act responsibly

I have a bitch here that the people paid $3000 for from a breeder, won't mention a name, had her for 3 years and gave her up to rescue. She is beautiful. They didn't return her to the breeder, she is on the rip-off report site...

Just look at all the puppies for sale, just on this website...imagine how many more out there that are backyard breeders...the numbers are astounding.

Look at the www.petfinder.com page in your area...look at all the GSD's looking for homes...GO AHEAD I DARE YA TO LOOK...roughly 7000+ GSD's.

I did have one dog that the breeder saw, her on my site and called and I returned her...she knew by her name and looks that it was her dog. This is one breeder that has a conciense..thank you. She is located in northern Idaho.

I even have a Malinois that I rescued. There were 3 -8 month old pups at a drop box/pound. I kept one dark red sable and found the ABMC Mal rescue for the other 2.

So thanks again for listening, notice how many people are reading this thread and how many replies??? I hope some of you think and consider what is going on in this economy and think of the dogs and puppies, not of your pocketbook...Thanks again, Steph
