Kalibeck

by Kalibeck on 16 April 2009 - 21:04

A beautiful day in the Northeast, & my knee felt pretty good, so I popped my big dog Beckett & my 2 female pups outside for a little training. Beckett is so full of piss & vinegar that he nearly took my hand off re-learning 'ous' on the retreive! But he had fun, & was very enthusiastic! In the end, he was doing well. Then on to the pups, both 13 months. My Ansgar, the girl who had to have emergency surgery last year, is doing well learning the retreive. She's not super high drive, I'd say medium drive, but loves to play, so I tried to make it all a game for her, & she had fun, too. She seems to get what 'ous' means, but she's easily distracted, and I have trouble keeping her from leaning in onto my legs whenever she's told to sit, a little lovebug, but she's making progress. If she turns out to be my companion dog, I won't quibble, I'm just glad she's as good as she is! Now to Ani, call name Lil' Bit....this is the pup that I thought would be a Holy terror.....well she has suddenly decided she LIKES to learn! A perfect 'fuss'! And I'd call her high drive! I'm so excited! We're gonna have a lot of fun this summer! And we all better get in a little better shape, 'cause we'll be doing a lot of trotting around! Bye-bye Fluffy me! And the best part, the knee held up to it all....NO PAIN! Woo-Hoo!!! Doing the Happy dance! jackie harris (if I could figure out how to take pictures & work the dogs, I'd have taken some. But since I was going solo today......next time!)

Thanks so much, guys! I was so happy about how well Lil' Bit did it took me a couple minutes to realize that I had been trotting around the yard with her...wasn't even thinking about the knee! For a while it felt like I was in a long tunnel, no light at the end.....& now !!! I'm so happy! Thanks again! jackie harris

So glad you're mending. I had back surgery several years ago and the relief was unbelieveable. Wish the fear of it hadn't made me put it off for so  long.
