 This book was published by the Austrian Kennel Club several years ago.  The Kennel Club opted to destroy the copies they had left, rather than pay for storage.

Does anyone have a copy  of this dictionary (or two or three) that they are willing to sell?

Tri-Lingual being which languages?  Sounds like something nice to have.

Oops!  Good point!  The one I am looking for is in French, German and English (but British English).   The book is hardback and yellow in color.  I cannot think recall the names of the co-authors.    I have a copy that a sport-friend had his secretary track down in Switzerland.

TRILINGUAL POCKET DICTIONARY OF CANINE TERMINOLOGY

Ladies and Gentlemen,

At a meeting of the FCI Executive Committee held in November 2007, it was resolved to sell the Trilingual Pocket Dictionary of Canine Terminology written by Prof. Raymond Triquet and Mr Hellmuth Wachtel at a special price to our member organisations and contract partners. This dictionary is particularly convenient not only for judges, employees from member organisations and clubs or other dog lovers, but also as a present for members of (great) merit.  We attach a copy of the cover as well as two pages from the book.

This interesting tool which can be very useful for anyone interested in cynology can be ordered at the FCI Office for the amount of 7.99 € (the mailing costs are not included and will also be charged to you).

In case you are interested we thank you for placing your order with Mrs Soravia at the following address:
F.C.I.
Place Albert 1er, 13
B – 6530 THUIN (Belgium)
Tel: ++32 (0)71 59 12 38
Fax: ++32 (0)71 59 22 29
E-mail : soravia.g@fci.be

If there is enough interest we might get together and order several copies. I have an account in Europe and could make the payment in Euros, saving you the hassle of currency conversions.

If we have an interest I would gladly contact the FCI to find out about shipping costs for X number of booklets to the US. From past experience, mailing costs for packages from Germany to the US can be considerable but it may be different for Belgium. Your cost then would be the cost of the dictionary, a share in the shipping from Belgium to here, and my cost of mailing the booklet to you. Whether that would outweight the expense and hassle of individual orders I can't say.

Don't we have an active PDB member in Belgium? Seems I remember that we do. Perhaps he/she can assist in this venture?

There are two other dog related dictionaries in GE<>EN which you may find useful.

Kynos Wörterbuch, Spezialwörterbuch der Hundewelt
, by Holger Homan, Kynos Verlag. Available from amazon.de. The cost was very reasonable, shipping about kiled me at 32 EUR!

Wörterbuch Hundesprot/Zucht, by Dennis Rhode, rohde at tjaernshaget.de, reasonably priced and mailed at letter rate.

BLESS YOU!!  This appears to be a paperback version, rather than the hardcover, but I will take what I can get!!  Heck, this might be better!!

Tina,

What do you think of a club order?  I am going to contact Cindy, Mary, and the Garskes to see if their clubs might be interested, as well.  Also, O G Buckeye, of course.

Oh, this is a GOOD DAY!!

Thank you Aqua!!

 Okay.  I emailed Snohomish, Willamette and Greater Seattle, as well as some of the Canadians.   I cannot tell you how happy I am that Aqua sent that link!!

Aqua, I don't know who or where you are.  But, if you are ever in the area,  I owe you a great dinner and a glass (or two!) of champagne!!

by Aqua on 16 April 2009 - 00:04

I accept the dinner and the champagne but I warn you, I love to eat and a glass or two might not cut it  :)

Let's see how this shakes out. You all do the order sheets and whatnot and get in touch with me via PM when you have some numbers. I'll then contact the FCI lady and find out about the money, and I'll get back with you. Mystere, if you'll agree to be everyone's contact person that'll simplify things.

I contacted Steve in Belgium as soon as I saw the page and he's already called and placed an order. Sometimes this site rocks!!!
