Strike them dead I say!  How disgusting.  Can you imagine what her kids will go through when mommy has had enough?
Very disturbing.

People like this make me sick! The are scum who do not care about anyone or anything but themselves. I am glad the dog is doing fine and is in good hands now.

People like these 2 idiots need to be pushed severely which will make them think twice before doing this again to any kind of animal. They never deserve to own a animal again in their little miserable life. Throw the book at them too!

This is disgusting! The judge should order both of them to be sterilized and make them voluntter, under strict supervision, cleaning kennels at the local animal shelters. That poor puppy. No wonder the dog was growling at her, they are great at judging character!

At least they're in Colorado so they can actually be punished!  Colorado's animal cruelty laws have more teeth than any other state's.  Not only can it be classed as a felony, but the maximum jail time is 6 years and the maximum fine is $500,000.  Compare that to Mississippi, where it can only be a misdemeanor and the max is 6 months/$1,000, or Tennessee, where it can be a felony but the maximum penalty is 9 months jail and no fine.

Only a few states have legislation protecting pets in cases of domestic violence.  Apparently, it is not uncommon for divorcing members of a couple to strike out at pets.  Further, some people, mostly women, report that they have not left a man because of fears of what he would do to the pets.  Massachusetts has just proposed legislation like Vermont and NY's, I think, to protect pets.
