Obama gave the orders to go get um..........(first time I've ever agreed with him) Our Navy Seals did theri job.........

The captian is safe and free, 3 pirates dead........

Jamac Habeb, a 30-year-old pirate, said that the killing of the three pirates was "a painful experience."

"This is unfortunate action and our friends should have done more to kill the captain before they were killed. This will be a good lesson for us," Habeb told the AP from one of Somalia's piracy hubs, Eyl.

need more be said......

I do not intend to stir the pot ! however I find it unlikely that obama gave any such order to attack those three poor muslums in a life boat that were being held captive by one capitalist cia agent  disguised as a boat captain! After all they were starving and seasick so they could not even see straight to shoot a gun! More evidence of evil usa satan capitalist opression! now they will seek revenge on other hijacked boats!

That's the French and now the U.S. that have taken positive action against this vermin.
In this country(Britain) we would still be talking about a "Diplomatic Solution" to the problem.

Officer: Split-second decision to fire on pirates

WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. military official said Navy Seals and other officers opened fire on three pirates when a Navy commander made a split-second decision that an American hostage's life was in danger.

Vice Adm. Bill Gortney also said the pirates made a ransom demand for the release of Capt. Richard Phillips.

Gortney said the pirates threatened throughout the ordeal to kill Phillips. Gortney said the pirates were armed with AK-47s and small-caliber pistols, and were pointing the AK-47s at the captain.

Gortney said the commander of the nearby USS Bainbridge believed Phillips was in "imminent danger" when he ordered sailors to fire at the armed pirates.

Gortney said the White House had given "very clear guidance and authority" that if any time the commander Capt. Phillips' life was in danger to take action to make sure it was not.

Gortney spoke in a telephone conference call from Bahrain. He is the commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command.

Muy Bueno! Trés Bien! Yaaaaay!

Whatever the circumstances, this was inevitable. The U.S. can not afford to stand by while terrorists hold itscitizens for ransom. I am only surprised that it took this long, and that the pirates were so stupid as to take an American hostage. This is not a question of national pride, but  just common sense. The U.S. military is the most prepared and capable force in the world, and since the 80's we have established a doctrine of scorched earth toward hijackers and other miscreants. These fools obviously do not watch CNN, or they would focus their efforts on the unfortunate citizens of smaller countries less inclined to defend and free their hostages.
