What do you want to know Jeff? Finale and Sibelius are the top of the line music software programs.

i'm gopna be laid up for a bit in my home and I need to be able to mix some simple accoustic mixes to send down to a freind, i have a very old fostex 4 track that I can record to tape but I would like to be able to bounce some stuff back and forth via e-mail. I have a little mixing experience but was looking fo a good reasonbly priced program to put down a click track and little music Just something simple

Jeff,
Sorry to hear you are laid up. Did you get hurt doing SchH? I hope you will be better soon.
As far as what you want to do, if you are working on a PC, it is easy but not as easy as on a MAC. If you get something like Music Creator it is relatively cheap and will do simple stuff. But the instruction manuals for some of these type programs are not very good leading to frustration. There are other programs out there too that could be used.
If you had a MAC, you could use Garage Band, the software that comes with the newer MACs operating system. You can easily create what you want and send it.
The top of the line, and certainly more expensive software is Sibelius and Finale. But with all these programs i think you must turn your music first into MP3 or MIDI and go from there. I am not sure any of them would take stuff in from a tape recording.....You might have to read the manuals and can probably get them from the web sites.
Feel better.

Ya, my son did a piece for one of the RP primary video's with his Violin .. do you have a StealthPlug USB ? That will work on the electric guitar. If not, I will suggest a UVI Sound Card for the mic.
Do you know what sound card you have... If you don't have the UVI equivalent, I could prolly find you a patch undernet. The UVI is the best for open mic recordings. (this is for serious recording and promotion though) A simple mic and windows media player is good if you know what your doing with audio.
Good luck.
