I am typing from my not-so-smart phone, so i will just summerize til i get on a computer. I just got a new male gsd from a lady who had to disolve her rescue. I have had him a month now and he is just under 2yrs & not nutered, yet. He was awesome for the first week & a half or so, confident, calm, not worried about a thing. Now it seems as though hes changed and is now fearful of alot of things that never bothered him before. Like at first, he had no issues with people & now he scared of my adult brother to the point that he has tried to bite him. And at first he had no issues being handled and now when i try to do anything to him, he gets terrified & urinates. He acts like he thinks im going to beat him. I know i dont have alot of info here, but any ideas what i have done to my dog? I will elaborate when i am able. Thank you.

I'm no expert but I'd be asking your brother what the hell did he do to the dog?

Karly:
Atleast your trying to help the problem I,d take Wazzup on the offer.

Moons:

If you have no words of encouragement or positive or even meaningful to input... Why post, to some people it is important.

Karly should have some idea of what happened when, if not the dogs in trouble.

Dealing with a rescue problem number two.  No experience.

I'd talk to the adult brother for one thing.

The dogs maybe not worth being rescued, or maybe the dog should have been given to someone with more experience.

This story is all too familiar.
And of course someone on the internet can save the day with a quick one paragraph answer.
SSDD.

I'd surrender the dog to someone with more experience or put the dog down, if I were Karly.

I wouldn't be here asking for answers to this KIND of question from people who have never seen the dog.

I got a red strip on my arse with a tiny purple dot beside it, what do I have?   It kinda moves when I sneeze.

Karly,
Find someone who can look at your dog in person.
Best advice.

I will second moons. The dog reacts with fear to both the new owner and his brother. First I though that the brother did something but now I wouldn't be 100% sure. You need someone to look at the dog. Where do you leave the dog when you out? This could be caused by separation anxiaty (I know it would be long shot, but something is causing the dog to stress out). I seen it before that the separation anxiaty was so big it lasted all the time. This is a dog that should be PTS in my opinion, I know you trying to do right by him, but it sounds like it could be too late. Once again you need someone that will observe the dog for few hours to conclude anythign solid.

Not all dogs can be saved .Some suffer terrible abuse before they are surrendered . Sad but true . Have the rescue take the dog back for awhile and work with it some more .Perhaps it can be rehabilitated , with an extremely knowledgeable trainer working with you and the dog .Perhaps you can not fix what was broken .
