FIRST INGREDIENT MISCONCEPTIONS

Ingredients on a pet food label are listed in the order of the amount included in the product. However, this can lead to misconceptions about how much actual meat is in a product in comparison to grain, since they are listed in a manner that includes their water weight.

Simply listing the word "chicken" or "lamb" indicates an ingredient that is high in water, diluting its protein and nutrient content. The word "meal" seen behind a meat source indicates it is a dry form ingredient which provides denser protein and nutrient levels.

In many foods that list meat as the first ingredient, grain content can actually be higher since the moisture is cooked out of the "chicken" or "lamb" during production.

The names of the pet foods below are the property of their respective companies.

Well i guarantee I am not part of any scam! I was just honestly wondering about this food. And I got my answer- unless I am dense and can't read that chart they are saying grain is the number 1 ingredient which is not what I am looking for. I don't post here often but I browse frequently and would like to be able to post when I want/need to without being considered a scammer, because I guarantee i am not.

Hi Kaden,   It's me, Trish the one who posted the chart.   I think 2 Moons is referencing me as the scammer, not you.    He thinks I pulled the chart out of his full moon maybe, don't know!   You have every back up to ask any question on this forum....keep it up.   That's why there are thoughtful people to help you hunt down the information,  because we learn also!
