As is the bill states a child under 8 years old..........the text is being changed to a child under 16 years of age.

A 15 year old kid jumps over your fence with the intent to burgle our house, protecting you Fido bites him in the butt , Fido is now classified as dangerous, you will have to do a number of things including purchase insurance, register Fido, defend Fido in the courts, purchase a special dog tag at an extra cost. If you do not to these things Fido will be taken away and put to death and you will go to jail.
Since the new bill states "a person" can claim a dog is vicious for any reason, and the owner has to prove otherwise (cost of lawyer, court fees, etc.. As written, any dog over 40 lbs is considered vicious……..   Lets go one step further, this 15 year old kid can make a vicious dog complaint against Fido. The pound comes and takes the dog for 10 days of "humane observations". You are left unprotected, the kid breaks in and helps himself to your new flat pannel tv, audio system and computer...rapes your daughter or what ever.....   While the Fido is at the pound being assessed, you have to get a lawyer to defend your dog and yourself. If you don't have the money to defend Fido and yourself, Fido is put to death and you are thrown in jail - all on your dollar - you end up paying anyway.

Fido is dead, you are in jail, you lose your job, you have no money, you bill comes from the court system, you cannot pay your taxes, your home is sold at auction................you're family is homeless.....worst case of course.........

The last time a 15 year old jumped my fence he broke into the house and ran off with a bunch of my stuff.......I have dogs now.............

LOL. I had to laugh because as I was reading this to my husband he was going into a lot of that. Instead of punishing the dogs for being protective and loyal, perhaps parents should teach their children to stay away from unfamiliar dogs.

My 2 kids 5 & 7 years old, won't even go near another dog without first talking to the owner and asking permission to pet their dog. Only then are they allowed with MY permission to pet another dog. We get compliments about them at the park for the manners around other dogs. It's a simple act of teaching your kids how to act around unfamiliar dogs.

I know there are a few "bad seeds" when it comes to dogs, but there are also "bad seeds" when it comes to people. So when I have PMS should I be deemed dangerous and put in prison?

we americans are a crazy lot!

instead of teaching our children how to behave, we make excuses for them.  I don't want children and never have,  going to the local walmart and seeing all the screaming little kids and teenagers who behave like 5 yrs old is enough birth control for me!

Eventually all our civil liberties and rights will be taken away and we will live in a "sterile" "safe" enviroment.
