Congratulations and well done to Kenneth Duggan of Rosebud Kennels and Paul Reilly of Viaduct Kennels, joint owners of vthe newly crowned Irish Working Dog Sieger Excellent Select 1 (VA1) Solo vom Kottersbusch SchH3.  Kkl.1a. HD/ED normal.
This achievement is the biggest and most prestigious win for both of these keen slogging enthusiasts who are really typical breed supporters and part of the real backbone of the breed in Ireland.  Arriving in Ireland only a few short weeks ago and after an arduous overland dfrove of a few thousand miles and threec ferry journeys, Solo was none the worse for wear but carrying a little too much condition.   It is perhaps normal to expect that our Norwegian friends feel the need to put extra flesh on their dogs be3cause of their harsh winters.  After Solo first making friends with the children of  thec Duggan household in Limerick, Ken immediately embarked on a structured programme to both return Solo to peak fitness and bring his schutzhund skills back up to par.  This work, done in that short period of time plus the emphasis placed on grooming and presentation proved quite successful as evidenced by the subsequent success and the achievement of the crowning title of Irish Working Dog Sieger.  Its acknowledged that there is still lots of work and preparation to do with Solo for the future and that the buildup must be considered and methodical in order to peak around the dates of both the Norwegian and British Sieger Shows later this year.  It is intended that Solo will lead and present an impressive progeny group at this major Scandanavian show in June.
Meanwhile Iish enthusiasts who will be making the pilgrimage to the British Sieger Show in September are assured of a really worthy representative to cheer for.  We will not have to hope for "the luck of the Irish" again, but instead we will be able to rely on a genuinely great contendewr for the British Sieger titlE.
Kenneth and Paul must surely be feted by all serious Irish breeders for their so incisive and intuitive investment in this truly magnificent representative of the German Shepherd breed - for this dog is without a shadow of a doubt one of the very best German Shepherds now standing at stud in Ireland or Britain.   His beautiful and exemplary build, his angulations and the clear fluidity of his expansive feathery trotting action make's him a joy to watch in the performace show ring.  Especially praiseworthy is the fact that this dog has teriffic charisma and exudes a rarely seen dimension of confidence, and this is most in evidence when witnessed in the context of how easily he can be motivated toc perform all desired tasks be it in the show  ring or the work testing arena.
I am most fortunate to have personal knowledge and experience of this dog's courage and working  prowess and can state quite unequivocally
t hat I wish most of the dogs I have encountered in Schutzhund trials in Ireland met this dog's standard of willingness and commitment  in protection work.  He is also so easily capable of switching the much desired range of play, prey or defence drives that he cembarrasses some of
the so-called working line dogs. These utility dog attributes allied to his correct build and genetiv pool combinations make him the obvious choice for breeders wishing to introduce or improve values in their stock.  In his schutzhund trial tests and as evidenced at the Irish Sieger Show courage evaluation he displayed a strong commitment to engage in combat, taking a deep firm grip and holding it confidently while being threatened and hit.  He releases cleanly on command and shows a correct confident gua

Hi John,

Not a lot to add to your commits, Fair play to ken for the condition  "Solo" was in and i think the best has still to come from the Irish Sieger
Also the condition of the two females in the working female class was excellent (i have to give credit where due)
I thought the day was a bit long and i missed the minor puppy classes because of the bite work/protection, maybe next year the committee can run the classes after the working phase so we don't miss some or all of the puppy classes
on a sadder note it was a pity to see a bit of unrest at  the show ( and i had nothing to do with it (LOL) ) hope that sense can prevail

well done to all involved very good show

                                                   Regards
