LukasGS

by LukasGS on 04 April 2009 - 03:04

Well, today me an' Hallix went to our shelter, fell in love with a little Flat Coated Retriever (possibly spaniel) mix girl. 6 months old. So..We adopted her! She's so sweet. Possibly the sweetest dog there, I can't believe someone HAD to give her up.
We ran into two German Shepherds and met one of them. So sad to say they found one as a stray and watched a woman bring one in. I take that back she was drug all around the parking lot by him. The first one was very thin and had a cut across his neck. I felt terribly bad for him. I wish I could have taken him, but we were unsure and didn't think it was safe to bring him home with a 3 month old pup without knowing much about him.

She came with the name "Angel". Generic, but I think that it will stick.
She gets to come to her home on Monday. :D

Ugh, messed up keyboard.

Addies not meeting her for a while. I'm not even going to let Lukas meet her on Monday. I'm keeping him outside until she's comfortable and until he goes to bed. Since she's going to be spayed. I dont want her to be uncomfortable with a bouncy puppy. xD

Heaven forbid!  this is a discussion about a non-breed standard, non gsd!  The censors should be here any minute!  LOL!  J/K - good luck on your new arrival!

Lmao, Ah, but I did manage to slip in there about the two unwanted gsd! Just to be on the safe side.

Also, I'm kind of nervous because I don't know how she'll react since she is getting spayed, but we have visited her for a couple of days and Has never even mouthed us really. Came from a home with other animals, but I don't want to have her get frustrated. I will keep her separated from Lukas at least until night because they will both sleep in my room, and I dont want her to get frustrated by a bouncy pup. I'm wondering if I should properly introduce them before this, other than just through his crate?
Any comforting advice would help, please and thank you.

Good morning and all the best for your new little one. What I will say is please take your time and make the introduction properly.I have successfully managed to have 2 UNneutered males for over 2 years now and there always together unless im not home. You might want to take a look at Ed Frowley site,www.leerburg.com as he has a real good article on how to PROPERLY make the introduction.I did what he suggests for the most part and am glad to say that I had success.Put all the politic BS aside and read that article.I must add that when you mentioned the 2 GSD's that were given up it made me angry why people get a dog like that and then decide to dump it and YES i realize that the breeders are alot of the blame for this cause of there greed for money.Good luck with all your gang.
